Among the technological devices introduced at the exhibition, there are 3 technologies from Tam Anh General Hospital system and Tam Anh Research Institute - TAMRI. These are the most modern technologies in the world that are being applied right at Tam Anh General Hospital in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City: brain surgery robot, embryo culture device and virtual reality navigation device in joint replacement surgery. All 3 of these medical technologies are supported by AI artificial intelligence applications and have created outstanding treatment results in recent years.
Visiting the booth of Tam Anh General Hospital System, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was interested in the application of these modern technologies in medical examination and treatment, bringing benefits to patients. The Prime Minister directed Tam Anh Hospital to make more efforts to invest in developing medical technology to take care of people's health.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of departments and agencies visited the booth of Tam Anh General Hospital.
Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ministries, central and local agencies; research institutes, domestic and international universities to visit the exhibition booth of Tam Anh Hospital, Associate Professor - Master - Doctor - CKII Chu Tan Si - Head of Neurosurgery Department, Neuroscience Center, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, introduced the Modus V Synaptive brain surgery robot applying artificial intelligence in Vietnam in surgery of neurological - cranial - spinal diseases.
Accordingly, in the world, there are currently only 10 countries applying brain surgery robot technology (mostly in developed countries). In Vietnam, Tam Anh General Hospital System is the only unit to put this modern Modus V Synaptive brain surgery robot into operation. In just a short time, Tam Anh Hospital has successfully performed surgery on about 90 dangerous cases of brain tumors, spinal tumors, cerebral hemorrhage stroke... using Modus V Synaptive Robot.
Modus V Synaptive brain surgery robot can help doctors clearly see nerve fiber bundles and healthy brain tissue around tumors or brain lesions.
Also at VIIE 2023, in the forum on Application of medical technology in healthcare: introducing and connecting potential for innovation; Professor Nguyen Van Tuan, Director of Tam Anh Research Institute (TAMRI) presented on the topic "The role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in personalized medicine for osteoporosis". The report presented some research achievements of Professor Tuan and his colleagues on the application of AI in the diagnosis and prognosis of osteoporosis.
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang - Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training at the exhibition booth of Tam Anh Hospital
Professor Tuan said: "We developed an algorithm based on Artificial Intelligence model to automatically diagnose vertebral fractures, called the 'Shape-Based Algorithm' (SBA) model. When compared with doctors' diagnosis, the SBA method achieved 92-98% accuracy. Therefore, the SBA method can help doctors and hospitals screen for vertebral fractures on a large scale. We also created a method called "xBMD", based on AI to predict bone density from X-ray films. The xBMD method can diagnose osteoporosis with up to 95% accuracy compared to diagnosis by the gold standard method. This is a very useful invention for hospitals that do not have DXA".
The fact that the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition 2023 focuses on displaying and introducing new products and technologies in healthcare has affirmed the Government's great interest in this field, expected to bring many strong innovations in medical technology and effective medical examination and treatment and healthcare for Vietnamese people.
