In addition to the top 10, some universities that are actively recruiting Vietnamese students also achieved high rankings such as the National University of Singapore (19th), the University of Melbourne (47th) in Australia, and the University of Hong Kong (49th). In Singapore alone, another school, Nanyang Technological University, also has a high ranking (39th). And in Southeast Asia, in addition to Singapore, Malaysia has its first educational institution in the rankings, the University of Malaya (group 201-300).
This year, THE announced that it has updated its methodology for ranking the world’s most prestigious universities, with the aim of assessing the academic reputation of schools in a more comprehensive manner. There are a total of 6 ranking criteria divided into 3 groups, including: number of votes (accounting for 60% of the proportion), pairwise comparison (20%) and diversity of voters (20%). The ranking data is compiled from the responses of more than 55,000 experienced and prestigious scholars worldwide.

Ms. Tania Rhodes-Taylor, Director of Communications and External Affairs at King 's College London (UK) , said that in the past, schools often did not discuss the "reputation" factor. However, this has changed when schools ranked in the top 200, especially the top 100, can increase the ability to recruit international students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. "There are even governments that only fund students to study at schools in the top 100," the director added.
THE is one of the most prestigious, experienced and influential university ranking organizations in the world, along with QS (UK) and ShanghaiRanking Consultancy (China). THE has been ranking universities since 2004 with QS, one year after the world first had a global university ranking published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (later Shanghai Ranking Consultancy).
