(NLDO) - Ho Chi Minh City Police highly appreciate the role of the press in propaganda, crime detection and prevention in the area.
On the afternoon of January 5, Ho Chi Minh City Police organized a press conference to announce the results of ensuring social order and safety in 2024 and some key tasks in 2025.
Attending were Colonel Nguyen Dinh Duong, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police and leaders of professional departments of Ho Chi Minh City Police.
In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City Police have resolutely implemented professional prevention measures in close combination with social prevention.
Colonel Nguyen Dinh Duong highly appreciated the role of the press in propaganda, crime detection and prevention in the area, especially in propaganda for the movement for national security, propaganda of legal policies on social order and security, and traffic safety.
"The press has published news and articles investigating and discovering crimes as well as promoting examples of people's police officers who sacrifice themselves for the country and serve the people," Colonel Nguyen Dinh Duong shared.
Ho Chi Minh City Police focused on promoting, innovating, and diversifying forms of propaganda about the methods and tricks of the subjects. Thereby, the number of crimes against social order was controlled, decreasing by 7.24% compared to 2023.

This is also the result recognized by the Party Committee, Government and People of the City, and evaluated as one of the 10 Outstanding Marks of 2024 of Ho Chi Minh City.
Notably, crimes against property ownership (robbery, snatching, extortion, theft, fraud, abuse of trust to appropriate property) was reduced sharply compared to 2023 by more than 21.6%.

Crimes and violations of the law related to "black credit" have been controlled and reduced; the phenomenon of "throwing dirty substances" occurs very rarely and when it does occur, it is quickly arrested and strictly handled . This is the result of the synchronous, drastic and effective implementation of many preventive and combative measures.
Crimes and violations of the law on economic management order, corruption, environment; and drug crimes are focused on and fought resolutely.
Many typical, "leading" cases with great influence nationwide are: "Registration Inspection" Project; the case of dismantling a newborn trafficking ring disguised as adoption activities involving 32 provinces and cities nationwide and most recently the case of trading and importing toxic substances.
Ho Chi Minh City police have discovered and prosecuted 5 cases/17 defendants for the crimes of illegal trading and storage of toxic substances; seized nearly 9.5 tons of cyanide, 420 kg of acid and many other related exhibits that have been urgently investigated in 11 provinces and cities...
Notably, through state management of security and order, many cases and law violators have been detected and handled.
Typically, the Traffic Police of Ho Chi Minh City Police discovered and handled more than 170 cases related to security and order, including 48 cases/51 subjects committing drug crimes, 36 cases/34 subjects committing crimes related to "Prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, dirty food, unknown origin", confiscating 2 revolvers and many other evidences...
The results of administrative reform and digital transformation are a bright spot in 2024. Ho Chi Minh City Police have actively taken the lead in digital transformation, proactively reformed administrative procedures, and created the most favorable conditions for economic and social development.
With outstanding, exemplary and exceptional achievements and feats, on August 17, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Police were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in the Renovation Period by the Party and State.
