On February 5, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Hoang Minh Giam, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Ana district, said that the locality has assigned the district police to urgently clarify the scandal between the boat racing teams to strictly handle it according to regulations.

According to Mr. Giam, the district police are compiling and extracting all images to clarify the incident. At the same time, they are determined to ban boats that violate the regulations from participating in the tournament for the next 2 years.

"This must be handled seriously to avoid affecting the image and reputation of the traditional race that has been painstakingly built over many years," said Mr. Giam.

Previously, on February 4, Krong Ana district organized the 2025 traditional men's boat racing tournament at the lotus lake in Buon Trap town.

When it came to the final round, a rowing team reacted, did not accept the referee's decision and then ran their boat out to block the middle of the race track to prevent it, causing the race to be suspended for more than 2 hours.

Notably, when the champion team reached the finish line, the team that reacted above approached and a scuffle broke out between the two teams. On the shore, some overzealous fans reacted, even throwing rocks at the opposing boat, creating chaos.

The traditional men's boat race in Krong Ana district has been held since 1994 and is usually held at the beginning of the new year, attracting thousands of locals and tourists to cheer and encourage.
