(Vietnam+) - Billiard player Duong Quoc Hoang defeated American opponent Oscar Dominguez in the final to win the 2024 Scottish Open 9-ball pool championship.

At the 2024 Scottish Open 9-ball pool championship held in Scotland (UK), player Duong Quoc Hoang continuously created surprises.

In the round of 32, he caused an earthquake when he defeated world number 1 player Francisco Sanchez Ruiz (Spain).

This victory also helped him become the only Vietnamese player to make it to the round of 16. From the night of May 5 to the early morning of May 6, Duong Quoc Hoang played 4 consecutive matches. In the round of 16, he defeated Tyler Styer (USA) 10-7.

In the Quarterfinals, he continued to beat Eklent Kaci (Albania) 10-5 to enter the semi-finals with Taiwanese (Chinese) player Ko Pin Yi.

Ko Pin Yi was the athlete who defeated Duong Quoc Hoang in the opening match and put Duong Quoc Hoang in a difficult position.

In this rematch, Ko Pin Yi continued to create a lot of trouble. However, Duong Quoc Hoang was more alert and made a spectacular comeback with a score of 10-9.

Entering the final, Duong Quoc Hoang continued to show impressive form against American player Oscar Dominguez. The two players fought each other in each game and for most of the time, Dominguez was the one leading.

At one point the score was up to 8-4 and the American player was only 2 games away from winning. However, Duong Quoc Hoang was very calm to make many accurate plays, winning consecutively to tie the match at 8-8.

The momentum helped him win the two deciding sets, thereby winning 10-8 overall and taking the Scottish Open title.

This is Duong Quoc Hoang's first international title, and also the first international title of Vietnamese pool in the World Nineball Tour (WNT) system.
