Local authorities are verifying the incident involving the taekwondo student.
On the afternoon of January 14, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Truong Van Vy, Chairman of Khue Trung Ward People's Committee (Cam Le District, Da Nang City), said that the locality has not yet made any decision to punish SEUNG RI Taekwondo Club.
According to Mr. Vy, immediately after receiving the parents' feedback about the martial arts teacher beating the student on the night of January 9, the agency stepped in to verify and work with the relevant people. By the morning of January 11, the interdisciplinary agency of Khue Trung Ward was present at the SEUNG RI Taekwondo Club (Ho Nguyen Trung Street) to inspect and make a record of the incident.
"After checking, we discovered that Seung Ri Taekwondo Club was operating without a license. We proceeded to draw up an administrative violation report with the initial act being determined to be operating without a license. The local government has not yet made a decision on punishment...", Mr. Vy informed.
Mr. Vy also added: "According to regulations, the decision to impose a penalty and the specific penalty level for SEUNG RI Taekwondo Club will be issued by the People's Committee of Khue Trung Ward within 7 days from the date of making the record."
Coach Nguyen Van Kin met and informed parents about the incident that happened at the taekwondo club on the evening of January 13.
Also according to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Khue Trung Ward (Cam Le District, Da Nang City), within 7 days, the functional agencies of Khue Trung Ward will focus on verifying the form of martial arts teaching for fees and the activities of Seung Ri Taekwondo Club. In addition, the People's Committee of Khue Trung Ward is still waiting for official information from the police after verifying and investigating the act of beating martial arts students as reported by parents.
"While the relevant authorities are verifying and clarifying the incident at SEUNG RI Taekwondo Club, the People's Committee of Khue Trung Ward has requested that the club temporarily suspend operations from January 14 until the final results are available," Mr. Vy added.
Previously, on the evening of January 13, more than 10 parents went to Seung Ri Taekwondo Club (Ho Nguyen Trung Street, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City) to talk directly with Coach Nguyen Van Kin according to the invitation letter that Mr. Kin posted on social media.
According to the reporter's records at the meeting with parents, Mr. Kin informed the parents about the incident that occurred at SEUNG RI Taekwondo Club and expressed regret at having to inform the parents that the club would temporarily suspend operations on January 14.
After receiving information from coach Nguyen Van Kin, many parents expressed sympathy and shared with Mr. Kin.
As Thanh Nien reported, previously, the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation received a complaint from Mr. NTH (parent of student NTNM, 13 years old) about his son being beaten by a coach while practicing at the SEUNG RI Taekwondo Club (Ho Nguyen Trung, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City) with Mr. Nguyen Van Kin as head coach and director.
According to the complaint, on the evening of January 9, when he picked up his son and discovered signs of being beaten, Mr. NTH used his phone to take pictures of all the marks on his son's body, and reported to the Da Nang City hotline about the serious violation of the child's body. At the same time, Mr. NTH took his son to the Khue Trung Ward police station for questioning.
Khue Trung Ward Police instructed Mr. NTH to take his child to the hospital to check for injuries. After the examination, Mr. NTH took his child back to Khue Trung Ward Police to get a detailed statement from NTNM. In addition, this parent also provided the phone number of Coach Nguyen Van Kin as requested by the police. The police invited Coach Nguyen Van Kin to work on the evening of January 9.
In a related development, after receiving a complaint from a parent in Da Nang City, the VTF Inspection Board requested the Da Nang City Taekwondo Federation to urgently verify the above mentioned abuse incident.
On January 14, the VTF leader said: "The behavior of the coach and assistant will be reviewed by the authorities. Any violations of the law will be dealt with accordingly, especially violations of professional ethics. We are waiting for the VTF Inspection Board and the Da Nang Taekwondo Federation to report. The VTF will revoke the club code, not allow the coach to organize promotion exams and not send martial artists to participate in promotion exams, meaning that the club and coach will not be professionally recognized."
