(CLO) Today (October 18), VN-Index decreased by 1.06 points (-0.08%), down to 1,285.46 points; foreign investors continued to net sell.
At the close of today's session, VN-Index decreased by 1.06 points (-0.08%) to 1,285.46 points; VN30-Index stopped at 1,362.69 points, down 0.2 points (-0.01%). Liquidity was low, with just over VND15,000 billion changing hands.
Foreign investors were net sellers. This group bought nearly VND908 billion and sold over VND1,062 billion. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the total transaction value reached over VND1,100 billion.
Pillar stocks continued to support the market in this session but could not help the market stay green (illustrative photo).
At the end of the session, HNX-Index stopped at 229.21 points, down 0.91 points (-0.4%); HNX30-Index decreased 2.61 points (-0.52%), to 498.32 points.
On the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, in the morning session, the market initially increased quite well. However, when the VN-Index approached the 1,300-point mark, selling pressure increased, causing the market to slow down.
At the end of the morning session, the VN-Index only increased slightly by 0.47 points, temporarily stopping at 1,286.99 points. In the afternoon session, the market continued to increase, at times up more than 6 points. However, when the end of the session was less than 15 minutes away, selling pressure increased, causing the VN-Index to return to the reference level and decrease points.
Declining stocks dominated with 157 stocks rising and 211 stocks falling. In the VN30 group, the number of stocks increasing and decreasing was 12 stocks and 13 stocks respectively. Pillar stocks continued to support the market in this session but could not help the market stay green. The banking group had 6 stocks in the 10 stocks contributing the most points to the VN-Index, including: STB, EIB, HDB, VCB, TCB, LPB; in which STB contributed the most with nearly 0.5 points.
However, VPB decreased the most points with 0.66 points.
The number of sectors that increased and decreased were equal and the increase and decrease were not strong. Health care, retail of food and necessities, specialized services and trade were the sectors that increased by more than 1%. The group of vehicles and components, hardware were the sectors that decreased by more than 1%.
