Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Than was elected as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

On the afternoon of December 2, the Party Executive Committee of Thai Binh province carried out the process of electing the Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term, replacing Mr. Ngo Dong Hai, who was recently assigned by the Central Committee to be Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department.

Previously, the Politburo agreed to let the Standing Committee of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee carry out the process of perfecting the position of Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term from local human resources in the planning.

Key leaders of Thai Binh province participated in the vote.

At the conference on the afternoon of December 2, the Provincial Party Executive Committee conducted a vote, 100% of the votes unanimously elected Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to hold the position of Secretary of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, 50 years old, from An Thanh commune, Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province; has a bachelor's degree in prosecution, a bachelor's degree in law, a master's degree in economic management, and a senior degree in political theory.

Before working at the agencies of Thai Binh province, Mr. Nguyen Khac Than held many positions in the political system in his hometown district of Quynh Phu, such as Deputy Chief of the People's Procuracy, Head of the District Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Head of the District Party Committee Organization Board, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee; Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Committee, Secretary of the Quynh Phu District Party Committee.

Since 2016, Mr. Nguyen Khac Than has been Director of the Department of Home Affairs and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province. Since October 2020, Mr. Nguyen Khac Than has been Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province.

Thai Binh province is located in the south of the Red River Delta, in the Northern coastal region, with an area of nearly 1,600 km2 and a population of over 1.8 million people; bordering the provinces of Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong City and the sea. Recently, after the reorganization, Thai Binh province has 8 district-level administrative units (7 districts and Thai Binh City); 242 commune-level administrative units (223 communes, 10 wards, 9 towns).
