Speaker of the National Assembly meets with the President and Speaker of the Iranian Parliament

On the afternoon of August 8 local time, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf hosted an official welcoming ceremony for National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his pleasure to visit Iran, a country with a unique culture and long history, especially at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Vietnam always attaches importance to the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Iran, one of its important partners in the Middle East.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s glorious history and achievements. He welcomed and highly appreciated the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. Iran always attaches importance to further promoting the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region.

At the talks, the two leaders discussed and agreed on measures to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in various fields. These include increasing the exchange of delegations at all levels, promoting people-to-people, cultural and artistic exchanges; enhancing cooperation between committees and agencies of the National Assembly and the Friendship Parliamentarians' Associations of both sides. The two countries will continue to coordinate and support each other at international forums, and prepare well for the 10th meeting of the Vietnam-Iran Intergovernmental Committee in Hanoi.

In terms of economy, the two sides agreed to increase meetings and connections between localities and businesses of the two countries to seek opportunities for business and investment cooperation; creating conditions for each country's strong products to penetrate the other country's market.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue suggested that Iran increase imports of agricultural products such as rice, tea, pepper, coffee, rubber, etc. from Vietnam, and expressed his willingness to create conditions for Iran to export dried fruits, fruits, etc. to Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to cooperate in the production of products according to halal standards. The two leaders also agreed to strengthen customs cooperation, resume cooperation mechanisms such as the Joint Working Group on Banking Cooperation, the Vietnam-Iran Trade Working Group, etc. to seek breakthrough measures for economic and trade cooperation.

The two National Assembly Chairmen signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two National Assemblies.

The two leaders also discussed many measures to promote cooperation in other potential areas such as science and technology, digital transformation, education and training, student exchange, promoting and attracting tourists, etc.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue respectfully invited the Iranian Parliament Chairman to make an official visit to Vietnam soon. National Assembly Chairman Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf happily accepted the invitation and asked the relevant agencies of both sides to make arrangements soon.

The National Assembly Chairman invited the Iranian Parliament to send a delegation to attend the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians to be held in Hanoi next September.

Also on August 8, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

The Iranian President warmly welcomed the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, affirming that the visit marks a new development in the history of relations between the two countries in general and between the two parliaments in particular.

Both sides expressed their delight at the positive developments in bilateral relations. On the basis of traditional cooperation and friendship, the two leaders discussed and agreed on measures to promote cooperation in the coming time to match the great potential of the two countries.

The two leaders agreed to increase delegation exchanges at all levels and through all channels to further enhance political trust, creating a foundation for developing multifaceted relations between Vietnam and Iran.

Regarding the economy, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that both sides create conditions for each other's strengths, especially agricultural and aquatic products, to penetrate each other's markets; strengthen trade and investment promotion, connect businesses and localities of the two countries; and promote cooperation in education - training, science - technology, culture - arts.

The Iranian President expressed his hope that the two countries' parliaments would support and continue to play an active role in reviewing and supervising the implementation of agreements between the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairman conveyed President Vo Van Thuong's invitation to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Vietnam soon. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi happily accepted the invitation and wished to welcome President Vo Van Thuong to pay an official visit to Iran soon.

During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue also received Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Abbas Aliabadi and Chairman of the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association Seyed Kamal Sajjadi.
