On the afternoon of November 14 (local time), on the occasion of attending the APEC Summit Week, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the US, the Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Vietnamese representative agencies in San Francisco and Houston.

Reporting to the President, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung said that Vietnamese representative agencies have effective coordination mechanisms, regularly holding meetings on both Party work and professional tasks. The agencies have also actively carried out the common task of promoting political diplomacy, economic diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, citizen protection, etc., contributing to mobilizing resources for national development and enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige.
In recent times, the relationship between Vietnam and the US has been developing well, most recently, the two sides have established a comprehensive strategic partnership. In addition, Vietnam's prestige has been enhanced when it successfully assumed the role of a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, thereby creating favorable conditions for representative agencies to carry out their assigned tasks.
Reporting on the activities of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, Ambassador and Head of the Mission Dang Hoang Giang said that all staff of the agency are united and overcome difficulties to successfully complete multilateral diplomatic tasks according to the foreign policy of the Party and State, contributing to enhancing the role and prestige of Vietnam in the common mechanisms of the United Nations, participating in solving global issues on the basis of respecting international law.
Promote early concretization of cooperation agreements
Speaking at the meeting, President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the contributions of the diplomatic sector in foreign affairs, including Vietnamese diplomatic representative agencies in the US.

Over the past time, Vietnamese representative agencies in the US have made efforts to promote bilateral relations in many fields, especially contributing to good preparation for upgrading Vietnam - US relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership; participating in good preparation for the program of attending the APEC Summit Week of the President and ministries, branches and localities.
The President emphasized that the connection between businesses and localities is important, contributing to the realization of high-level commitments and agreements; and stated that the upgrading of Vietnam-US relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership brings great opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in economics, trade, investment, education, science, production, and participation in the supply chain of high-quality goods.
However, from commitment to implementation is a process, so the President hopes that the Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies in the US will make efforts to promote the early concretization of cooperation agreements. At the same time, he requested ministries, branches and localities to participate more actively in this process.
With the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation to the United Nations, the President suggested that it is necessary to contribute to expanding Vietnam's relations with international organizations, strengthening the establishment of cooperative partners, and enhancing Vietnam's international position and prestige.
Vietnamese representative agencies in San Francisco and Houston have stepped up cooperation promotion between Vietnamese localities and US localities, encouraging overseas Vietnamese to invest in the country. In addition, the President also emphasized the task of protecting citizens; actively informing, exchanging and sharing so that overseas Vietnamese in the US can understand correctly, fully and accurately the current situation in Vietnam; and answering their concerns and questions.
