President Vo Van Thuong called on businesses, agencies, organizations, individuals, officials, civil servants... to promote the tradition of solidarity, support, and contribute labor and money to build solidarity houses for poor and near-poor households in Dien Bien - Northwest province.
On the morning of May 13, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front launched a campaign to support the building of solidarity houses for poor households in Dien Bien province with the theme "Millions of loving hearts - Thousands of happy homes".
President Vo Van Thuong and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien presented flowers and thank-you letters to Major General Dao Quang Cat and Colonel Nguyen Huu Tai, soldiers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign, who attended and supported the program.
There are still millions of poor households nationwide, of which Dien Bien province is one of the provinces with the highest poverty rate in the country. Currently, there are tens of thousands of poor and near-poor households that need support in housing and livelihoods to stabilize their lives. Mr. Do Van Chien said that the program "A million loving hearts - A thousand happy homes" aims to mobilize businesses, organizations, groups and individuals to promote the tradition of "Love others as you love yourself" to contribute money and labor to build solidarity houses for poor and near-poor households in Dien Bien - Northwest province. From now until May 2024, the program is expected to support the construction of 7,000 to 8,000 Great Solidarity houses for poor and near-poor households in Dien Bien province and some areas in the Northwest. "Those who have money contribute money, those who have merit contribute labor; "If you have a lot, contribute a lot, if you have a little, contribute a little" to support the ethnic people of Dien Bien province and the Northwest region to escape poverty, improve their material and spiritual lives, and feel secure in their "blood and flesh" attachment to the border land of the Fatherland", Mr. Do Van Chien called.President Vo Van Thuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong and philanthropists.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong stated that the Dien Bien Phu victory was a brilliant milestone, an immortal heroic epic in the nation's history, a shining symbol of the strength of national unity, of the will and spirit of uprising. The victory was made from the great dedication and sacrifice of the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people, including the direct contributions of the people, people and army of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province and the localities in the Northwest region, which were both the frontline and the direct rear of the campaign. Compared to the general development level of the country, Dien Bien and the provinces in the Northwest still face many difficulties, the infrastructure is not yet synchronized, tens of thousands of poor households still have to live in temporary, dilapidated houses, a part of the people still lack basic social services such as clean water, lighting works, school facilities, medical examination and treatment services... According to the President, the goal of mobilizing the construction of 7,000 to 8,000 solidarity houses within 1 year is a high determination to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, helping poor households have safe and stable housing, conditions to improve their living standards, and escape poverty sustainably.Ministry of Information and Communications supports 40 houses.
“This is a beautiful work, demonstrating the spirit of humanity, charity, practical assistance and support, both a responsibility and a sincere gratitude to the people of all ethnic groups in the land where they previously made great sacrifices and contributions, contributing human resources, resources, and blood and bones to the Fatherland,” the President affirmed. With that meaning, the President called on enterprises, agencies, organizations, collectives, individuals, cadres, civil servants, public employees, soldiers of the armed forces, union members, members of mass organizations, people of all walks of life in the country, and overseas Vietnamese to promote the tradition of solidarity, “mutual love and affection”, “repaying gratitude”, and joining hands to support, contribute labor and resources to the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The President requested Dien Bien province and the provinces in the Northwest region to focus on leading, directing, and effectively managing the deployment of support resources; Implement synchronous solutions, do a good job of social security, support people's livelihoods, not only to escape poverty but also to move towards a more adequate and quality life. The central and local levels continue to pay attention to reviewing, evaluating, and promoting the effective implementation of socio-economic development policies in mountainous and border areas, focusing on promoting and implementing with quality and effectiveness national target programs on new rural construction, sustainable poverty reduction... On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President acknowledged and thanked the humane and benevolent hearts, the practical and meaningful actions, and believed that the program would be a great success. At the launching ceremony, more than 280 billion VND equivalent to 5,600 solidarity houses were supported and registered by units, businesses, organizations, and individuals at the central and local levels to support the ethnic minorities in Dien Bien province and the Northwest region. President Vo Van Thuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang presented the first round of support funds worth VND200 billion, equivalent to 4,000 solidarity houses, to Dien Bien province.
