On the afternoon of November 30, the Secretary General of the National Assembly held a press conference to announce the results of the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly.
At the press conference, the reporter asked about the family deduction level that has been mentioned many times, the Ministry of Finance has provided information to collect opinions, however, it is expected to be approved in 2026 and implemented in 2027. Meanwhile, the current family deduction level is very outdated, affecting people's lives?
Answering this question, Mr. Vu Tuan Anh, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee, said that many delegates had opinions on amending the family deduction level.
According to him, the family deduction level in the Personal Income Tax Law has been assigned to the Government when there is a fluctuation in CPI of over 20% compared to the time the law comes into effect, or the time of the most recent adjustment of the family deduction level, the Government will submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) for consideration of adjusting the family deduction level.
"However, for a long time, the Government has not submitted to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly for consideration to adjust the family deduction level," said Mr. Vu Tuan Anh.
The Standing Member of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly also found that the family deduction level has changed since the time of adjustment. However, in Plan 81 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and during the working process with the Ministry of Finance, there were comments and suggestions for research and amendment.
"But recently, the Ministry of Finance has been focusing on areas with problems to find immediate solutions for development," said Mr. Tuan Anh.

Mr. Vu Tuan Anh also said that the Law on Value Added Tax (amended) passed by the National Assembly at this session has raised the non-taxable threshold from VND100 million to VND200 million. When amending the Law on Personal Income Tax, it will be synchronized to reduce the taxable threshold for households and individuals doing business.
Regarding the general family deduction level, Mr. Tuan Anh said that when amending the law, he believes that the Government will adjust it. However, according to its authority, the Government has not yet submitted the adjustment of this family deduction level to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly for consideration and decision.
Currently, the family deduction for personal income tax payers is 11 million VND/month, and for dependents is 4.4 million VND/month.
Also at the press conference, answering questions related to the issue of streamlining the National Assembly's apparatus, Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office Le Quang Tung, stated that this is the determination of the entire political system to streamline the apparatus, as the General Secretary stated at the Central Conference.
According to him, streamlining here does not mean reducing but must ensure "refined, compact, strong, effective, and efficient".
To implement the Central Resolution, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly established a Steering Committee to summarize the implementation of Resolution 18-NQ/TW to streamline and streamline the apparatus at the agencies of the National Assembly, agencies under the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, and the Office of the National Assembly, with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man as the Head of the Committee.
Secretary General of the National Assembly Le Quang Tung said that it is expected that in early January 2025, there will be results of the review of the implementation of Resolution 18-NQ/TW with the agencies of the National Assembly and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.
Earlier, in his closing speech at the 8th Session, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that 2025 is a very important year in successfully implementing the tasks of the 2021-2026 term. He also mentioned that the Resolution of the 10th Central Party Conference, 13th tenure, made urgent requests for the work of arranging and streamlining the organization and apparatus of the political system to meet the requirements and tasks of the country in the new period.
The Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed that the National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the Ethnic Council, the Committees of the National Assembly, the Office of the National Assembly, etc. of the 15th tenure will continue to strongly innovate, urgently arrange and consolidate the "lean, compact, strong" organizational apparatus, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, associated with restructuring the contingent of cadres with sufficient qualities and capacities to meet the tasks.
