Hanoi National University Aptitude Test (HSA)
This year's HSA exam will consist of 6 sessions, starting from March, with an expected number of 85,000 test takers. Registration will open on February 8. The exam fee is 500,000 VND/test taker. This year's competency assessment exam has many new points compared to previous years, from the exam structure, the number of questions and the way questions are asked in each topic to the exam registration schedule. Specifically, the HSA exam structure consists of 3 parts, of which 2 are compulsory parts: Mathematics and Data Processing, Literature - Language. The questions in the HSA exam are about 75% objective multiple choice questions with 4 options and 25% fill-in-the-blank questions.
This is one of the largest private exams in the country. About 90 universities use this exam for admission.
Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Test
The Ho Chi Minh City National University’s aptitude test is the largest in the country, with nearly 107,000 candidates last year. More than 100 schools use the results for admission.
This year, the exam will take place in two sessions, on March 30 and June 1. The exam locations include: Thua Thien - Hue, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu.
The Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test consists of 120 objective multiple-choice questions with 150 minutes to complete on paper.
The test consists of three parts: The Logic - Data Analysis and Problem Solving sections from previous years are combined into Scientific Thinking with 30 multiple choice questions. The questions are structured in the direction of providing information, data, facts, from which candidates are required to apply, determine experimental results, predict laws... The Language Use section includes Vietnamese and English with 60 questions instead of 40 questions as before. Finally, there is the Mathematics section with 30 questions.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology Thinking Assessment (TSA)
This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will organize 3 rounds of thinking assessment exams on weekends, each round will have 3-4 teams at 30 locations. The exam can accommodate about 75,000 test takers, specific information of the exam rounds is as follows:

Compared to 2024, the 2025 TSA exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology has reduced 3 sessions. The exam fee is 500,000 VND/session.
Regarding the exam structure, Hanoi University of Science and Technology maintained stability with three parts: Mathematical Thinking (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension (30 minutes) and Scientific Thinking/Problem Solving (60 minutes). These are three independent exam parts, the questions focus on assessing the candidates' thinking ability, not directly testing knowledge of any subject.
The TSA test is a computer-based test, and the results are valid for 2 years for university admission purposes (depending on the school).
Hanoi National University of Education Aptitude Test (SPT)
According to the announcement of Hanoi National University of Education, this year's capacity assessment exam will take place on May 17-18 at 4 testing locations: Hanoi National University of Education, Vinh University, Quy Nhon University, and University of Education - University of Da Nang.
Registration period is from March 15 to April 15. The 2025 SPT exam scores will be announced before June 15. Fee is 250,000 VND/subject. Candidates can register for any number of subjects.
Hanoi National University of Education organizes an aptitude test with 8 subjects: Math, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography. Candidates take the test directly in the examination room, answering questions by filling in the multiple choice answer sheet and writing on the test paper. The time for Math and Literature is 90 minutes, other subjects are 60 minutes.
V-SAT Exam
It is expected that schools will organize entrance exams from early April to mid-May, except for Thai Nguyen University, which may organize them after the high school graduation exam (after June 26-27).
This is the first computer-based entrance exam held in 2023, organized by 4 universities: Ho Chi Minh City Banking University, University of Finance - Marketing, Saigon University and Ho Chi Minh City Open University in collaboration with the National Center for Testing and Education Quality Assessment, Ministry of Education and Training. To date, the exam has been used by 18 schools for admission, with an expected quota of about 10-40%.
Police Academy Assessment Exam
Last year, the assessment exam for the police school block took place on July 7, this year the exam schedule has not been announced.
There will be adjustments to the assessment test for admission to the People's Police Academy this year. Specifically, the test consists of three parts: mandatory essay, mandatory multiple choice, and optional multiple choice. Candidates will take the test in 180 minutes, with a total score of 100.
The compulsory essay section includes one social argumentation question with a maximum total score of 25. The compulsory multiple choice section includes 35 math questions (35 points), 10 history questions (10 points), and 20 foreign language questions (15 points). The optional multiple choice section has 15 questions (15 points). Candidates choose one of the following subjects: Physics (CA1), Chemistry (CA2), Biology (CA3), and Geography (CA4).
This structure is different from previous years, when candidates choose one of two exam codes, CA1 and CA2. The multiple choice part of the two codes is the same, testing knowledge of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Foreign Languages. The essay part of CA1 is Math, and CA2 is Literature.
