95 years ago, in Mao Khe, Dong Trieu, a very important event took place, which was the birth of the first Party cell of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the Mining Area on February 23, 1930 - only 20 days after the Communist Party of Vietnam was founded on February 3, 1930. The birth of the first Party cell opened an important turning point in the mining workers' movement in Quang Ninh in general and the revolutionary movement in Dong Trieu in particular.
The Hong Gai - Cam Pha - Dong Trieu - Uong Bi mining area is a large industrial area with a large and early-concentrated workforce in the Northeast region of our country. This is one of the places that the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association pays special attention to.
From late 1928 to early 1929, the Association sent many members, who were young intellectuals and petty bourgeois, to the "proletarianized" mines in order to: infiltrate the working class to train themselves to become proletarians, and to launch a working class struggle against the oppression and exploitation of the French colonialists and the mine capitalists.
Comrade Nguyen Van Lich (aka Man) was the first youth union member (according to the introduction of comrade Ha Ba Cang, from Hai Phong) to come to Mao Khe to "proletarianize". He applied to work in the warehouse at the mechanical factory.
Here, he worked and propagated the enlightenment of workers. He analyzed the miserable life of workers, clearly pointing out the cause of that suffering: the feudal imperialists, directly the colonialists and the mine owners. To escape that miserable life, everyone had to unite and make a revolution.
To make it easier for everyone to understand and attract more and more members, comrade Nguyen Van Lich proposed to dissolve the "Long Thuong Doan" and change the Mutual Aid Association to "Friendship Association".
In March 1929, comrade Nguyen Van Lich and a number of other comrades went to Mao Khe to "proletarianize" and established a youth cell, the core of which were active members of the "Friendship Association" including comrades: Nguyen Van Lich, Dinh Tien Toan, Bui Van Mao, Vu Huy San (aka Thao), comrade Khoang and comrade Tuoc.
As soon as it was established, the youth branch in Mao Khe mobilized workers to donate money to support the struggle of workers at the Avia factory in Hanoi (which broke out on May 28, 1929).
The Youth Party Cell in Mao Khe had just been established for 3 months when the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association dissolved.
On June 17, 1929, the Indochinese Communist Party was established, directly influencing the revolutionary movement in the Mining Area. At the end of July 1929, comrade Nguyen Duc Canh, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Indochinese Communist Party directly in charge of Hai Phong, sent comrade Do Huy Liem to the mining area to convey the policy of the Indochinese Communist Party to dissolve youth organizations and establish branches of the Indochinese Communist Party. Upon arriving at the Mining Area, comrade Do Huy Liem convened a conference of cadres and youth members in Cam Pha - Cua Ong to convey that policy.
At the end of 1929, Tran Van Tri (aka Lien, aka Tri Chuot) returned to Mao Khe to establish the Indochina Communist Party cell. Party members included: Tran Van Tri, Ngo Dinh Man, Dinh Tien Toan, Bui Van Mao, Bui Duc Giao, Tran Van Tuoc, Nguyen Huy San (aka Thao), with Tran Van Tri as secretary.
To meet the development requirements of the workers' movement nationwide, on July 27, 1929, the Conference of the Red Trade Union of North Vietnam took place at No. 15, Hang Non Street - Hanoi. The Conference decided to establish the Red Trade Union in North Vietnam. Comrade Nguyen Huy San from Mao Khe attended on behalf of the mining workers. He was elected by the Conference as a member of the Executive Committee of the General Trade Union of North Vietnam.
After the founding of the Red General Labor Union of Bac Ky, many cadres were sent to proletarianize the Mao Khe coal mine.
At the end of September 1929, comrade Nguyen Van Cu (aka Phung Ngoc Tuong) as a representative of the Central Committee of the Indochinese Communist Party went to Mao Khe to directly work and build a revolutionary base. Despite the hard work and malaria, he "still took advantage of his breaks to be close to and talk with his fellow workers. Non Dong Pagoda was where he and his fellow workers often secretly met to discuss daily work".
Comrade Bui Van Mao took advantage of every moment to open evening cultural classes on Mao Khe street for workers, teaching illiterate members while working in the furnace.
Through many forms of activities, being close to the workers to enlighten and mobilize them on the path of revolutionary struggle, many people joined the Association. By the end of 1929, the number of members of the "Friendship Association" had increased to more than 100 people, including 15 female members.
The workers' movement developed quite quickly, the Party cell decided to establish the "Red Union" in Mao Khe whose members were "workers with fighting spirit and revolutionary enlightenment", the "Friendship Association", the Indochinese Communist Party cell and the Red Union in Mao Khe were the most active organizations in the years 1929-1930.
Implementing the policy of the Red General Confederation of Labor of North Vietnam to lead the workers of the whole country to fight on the occasion of the anniversary of the great Russian October Revolution, on November 7, 1929, the Indochinese Communist Party cell in Mao Khe celebrated the Russian October Revolution with careful preparation and a rich and lively form. The cell assigned organizations with the task of hanging red flags and distributing leaflets in each area from the night of November 6, 1929.
At about 3:00 a.m. on November 7, 1929, when the Ha Chieu miners started going to work on Mao Khe street, comrade Dinh Tien Toan and comrade Khoang pretended to be miners and spread leaflets at the gate of the Mechanical Factory, the mine door and places where the miners often sat to rest...
On the afternoon of November 7, 1929 (after work), comrade Bui Van Mao drove the locomotive of train number 4 with a red flag from the station to Ben Can port, and back, while the miners were leaving.
The new form of the struggle, with new content, had a great impact on the thoughts, feelings, will, aspirations and raised the level of thinking of the workers, "making the workers outside the organization half surprised, half happy, while the mine owners, supervisors, and secret agents were shocked and frightened"; "everyone felt unusually excited in their hearts" and "the lackey mine owners did not dare to threaten and threaten like usual".
This is the first time in Mao Khe that the Russian October Revolution was celebrated: “Not only does it make the influence of the Indochinese Communist Party penetrate deeply into the working class, but it is also an opportunity for miners and the working masses to understand more about the October Revolution.”
The birth of the Indochinese Communist Party cell, the Red Trade Union and the struggle to celebrate the October Revolution (November 7, 1929) in Mao Khe marked a great qualitative change in the workers' movement, when the revolutionary theory of Marxism-Leninism was the guiding light. The Mao Khe mine workers' team changed from spontaneous struggle to self-awareness, from fighting for themselves to fighting for their team. The Indochinese Communist Party cell was the basis for the birth of a larger revolutionary organization, shouldering the historical mission of the nation and class.
After the anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (November 7, 1929) of the Indochinese Communist Party cell in Cam Pha - Cua Ong, comrade Dang Chau Tue and Vu Thi Mai were exposed and had to leave Cam Pha - Cua Ong to Mao Khe to operate. Comrade Dang Chau Tue became a coal miner at the Pi-o mine (today's Non Dong) and then transferred to work as a mine prop worker in Van Loi (today's Van Loi). Comrade Vu Thi Mai came to work and mobilized the workers in the mine to create sympathy, help, root out suffering, arouse hatred, and propagate the Party's path to save the country to the brothers and sisters.
Comrade Dang Chau Tue and Vu Thi Mai, together with the Indochinese Communist Party cell in Mao Khe, published the newspaper "Than" (printed by comrade Dang Chau Tue and Vu Thi Mai), contributing to promoting the revolutionary movement in Mao Khe to develop rapidly from spontaneous to conscious.
The development of the workers' movement and the patriotic movement in our country required unified leadership to ensure the success of the revolution. Comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc, representing the Communist International, convened a conference of representatives of three communist organizations: the Indochinese Communist Party (in the North), the Annamese Communist Party (in the South), and the Indochinese Communist Federation (in the Central), to establish the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Before attending the conference to unify three communist organizations and establish the Communist Party of Vietnam, comrade Nguyen Duc Canh sent comrade Nguyen Van Cu back to Mao Khe mine to prepare conditions for the establishment of a Communist Party of Vietnam cell.
On February 3, 1930, the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam was an extremely important turning point in the history of our country's revolution. It proved that the proletariat had matured and was capable of leading the revolution.
On February 23, 1930, at a small house next to the workers' village south of the mine (now in the Democratic area, Mao Khe ward), a conference was held to establish the Communist Party of Vietnam cell. Comrade Phung (aka Nguyen Van Cu), in charge of the mine area, introduced comrade Trong (aka Nguyen Duc Canh) on behalf of the Party to recognize each comrade into the Party. Some comrades cried because they were moved and happy to become Party members. The cell consisted of 5 comrades: Dang Chau Tue, Vu Thi Mai, Bui Duc Giao, Nguyen Huy San, Bui Van Mao. Comrade Dang Chau Tue was appointed as the cell secretary.
In this Conference, the Party cell discussed and decided on a number of immediate tasks: to step up mass propaganda work, establish bases at the enemy's throat, and launch a movement to expand the Party's influence.
Despite the extremely difficult circumstances, the conference to establish the Party cell in Mao Khe was held in accordance with the procedures and principles of the Party. This was the first Communist Party of Vietnam cell in the Quang Ninh Mining Area. It opened an important turning point for the workers' movement in the Mining Area.
