In his inaugural speech after taking the oath this afternoon, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Le Minh Tri shared, "This is a great honor, and at the same time a great and heavy responsibility for me personally before the Party, State and people."
“Today I am happy to receive a new assignment, but I also have many concerns and thoughts, because I realize this is a difficult and challenging task ahead,” said the new Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court.
Mr. Tri shared that the first question for him was how to preserve the achievements that his predecessors had built.
Faced with the current requirements of Party discipline and order, the increasingly high requirements of the law and the expectations and demands of the people, what should the Court do and how should it do it to gain the trust, agreement and support of the majority of the people in performing its duties?
“It is the task of protecting justice, protecting human rights, protecting fairness, justice, protecting the interests of the State, the legitimate and legal interests of organizations and individuals, to make an important contribution to building an honest judiciary according to the current requirements of the Party and State,” the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court emphasized.
Mr. Le Minh Tri pledged to strictly comply with the Party's leadership, strictly abide by the Constitution and laws, and fully implement judicial principles; and make the greatest effort in fulfilling his oath.
“I will continue to inherit and promote the achievements and positive aspects of my predecessors and Chief Justice Nguyen Hoa Binh; and promptly overcome the limitations and shortcomings that the National Assembly and National Assembly deputies have pointed out to the People's Court sector in the coming time,” the new Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court promised.
First of all, he and the Party Executive Committee will attach great importance to solidarity and unity with the policy of linking Party building and rectification with industry building; promote the responsibility and exemplary role of heads of court units at all levels and Party members in performing professional tasks.
Along with that, we must strengthen discipline and continue to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, and especially his teachings - each court official must truly be a person who "serves the public, upholds the law, is fair and impartial".
Most importantly, according to Mr. Tri, it is necessary to build and strengthen the trust of the majority of people in the country's judiciary.
"Try to implement the motto of saying less but doing more to gain people's trust, increase listening to comments and strictly comply with the supervision of the people, the National Assembly and National Assembly deputies on the activities of courts at all levels," the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court pledged.
At the end of his speech, Mr. Le Minh Tri hoped to receive the attention and leadership of the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the attention and support of the National Assembly, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, branches and localities so that the Court sector can strive to successfully complete its assigned tasks.
The National Assembly will elect the President in October.
