Building clean production models, products certified to meet VietGAHP standards are being implemented by Quang Tri Agricultural Extension Center on the basis of closely following key agricultural production development programs and goals, taking advantage of central project programs, successfully transferring many new technical advances, contributing to rapidly increasing productivity and product quality to meet the increasing needs of society, promoting sustainable agricultural production, ensuring economic, social and environmental protection efficiency.

From the national agricultural extension program, Hung Dung Company Limited, Ho Xa town, Vinh Linh district, is implementing the Project of Building a VietGAHP certified pig farming model associated with linking product consumption in the North Central provinces in the period of 2024-2026. Raising 400 pigs or more each year.
Pig breeds are provided through bidding for foreign pig breeds for commercial breeding with a crossbreeding combination of 3, 4 bloodlines. The unit supplying the breed ensures the requirements of disease safety, origin is confirmed by competent authorities, fully vaccinated according to regulations... Feed uses a mixture in 2 stages: when the pig is after piglet (under 30 kg) and when the pig is mature.
Starting the project, the implementing unit organized a training course on technical processes for raising pigs according to VietGAHP standards such as: care, some common diseases in pig farming and prevention methods... In addition, issues related to production linkage, consumption of agricultural products for farm owners, cooperative members, cooperative members... were also focused on in the production linkage chain. During the implementation of the model, technical staff monitored and guided pig care, vaccination and other disease prevention measures such as disinfection of barns.
After 120 days of raising, the pigs in the model reached an average weight of 110 kg/pig. The ability to gain weight is 0.8 kg/pig/day, consuming about 2.3 kg/kg of feed. Thus, the cost of raising pigs is about 5.32 million VND/pig of 110 kg. With a selling price of 61,000 VND/kg of live pigs, the average profit from each pig sold in the model is about 1.4 million VND, much higher than raising pigs for meat outside the model.
The model has signed 3 contracts to link pork consumption with units and businesses qualified to slaughter, process, and consume animal products according to the provisions of the law on food hygiene and safety in Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue provinces. By the end of 2024, all pigs raised according to the VietGAHP model of the project in Quang Tri province have been consumed. From the production results in 2024, many households in Vinh Linh district have expanded the model and registered to participate.
The results of the 2024 project implementation in Quang Tri have created a pork material area that meets VietGAHP standards in the province, contributing to increasing the output of safe pork for consumption in the market of the North Central provinces, bringing high economic value, meeting the demand for clean food consumption of consumers in the product consumption linkage area.
In terms of social effectiveness, the implementation model has improved farmers' knowledge of VietGAHP-certified livestock farming, helping them realize the importance of VietGAHP-certified livestock farming, and know how to effectively use vaccines, disinfectants, antiparasitic drugs, biological products, etc. to develop livestock farming safely and sustainably.
Households in the area have realized the importance of participating in the product chain; livestock farmers can consume products at stable, safe prices with low risks, helping the livestock model develop stably and sustainably when participating in the chain. Contributing to raising awareness and consciousness of people as well as local authorities on biosafety and sustainable livestock farming.
In terms of environmental efficiency, the development of VietGAHP certified pig farming creates a clean and sustainable agriculture in Quang Tri province, contributing to increasing the production of safe pork for domestic consumption and export, ensuring human health and protecting the ecological environment.
The results of the first year of implementing the Project on Building a VietGAHP certified pig farming model associated with product consumption linkage in the North Central provinces in Quang Tri province show that the model's ability to be replicated for households in the coming time is very large.
The success of the model also has the potential to promote the development of pig breeding production in the area. Farmers apply technical processes and comprehensive disease prevention for pig herds more and more effectively, increasing productivity and pork quality, increasing farming efficiency.
The success of the VietGAHP pig farming model linking product consumption will be replicated in other regions in the province on the basis of ensuring the province's livestock planning and forming awareness of livestock farming to ensure requirements on quality and food safety associated with linking product consumption to ensure benefits for farmers and health for consumers.
