On the afternoon of November 24, in Quang Ninh, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) held a training conference on information and propaganda work of the Ministry of Information and Communications in 2023.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Hoang Anh Van - Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, Ministry of Information and Communications said that cross-border platforms are the places that spread the most bad and toxic information, opposing the Party and the State. Therefore, to manage cyberspace well, we must fight to force social networking platforms to comply with Vietnamese laws.

To do this, the Ministry of Information and Communications has synchronously deployed legal, media, economic and technical solutions.

Accordingly, these activities include forcing cross-border platforms to comply with Vietnamese law, removing bad, toxic, false, negative information that has a negative impact on society. This is truly a difficult and complicated task because there is no precedent and no regulations to enforce.

As a result of the content struggle, if before 2017, cross-border platforms hardly cooperated, then in 2018-2019, they started to cooperate and from 2020 to now, they have carried out requests to block and remove accounts and channels with a response rate of up to over 90%.

Specifically, from 2018 to present, Facebook has removed 15,691 distorted articles, 48 ​​groups affecting children, fake news, distorted information, 353 fake accounts, fake news, distorted information.

Youtube has removed 2,000 advertisements for drugs and medical supplements, blocked 33 channels and 83,082 videos.

TikTok has blocked and removed 1,906 links, 149 accounts, proactively blocked 3,568 videos, and built a portal to receive bad and toxic information.

In order to raise awareness and responsibility of people and the whole society in preventing fake news, the Ministry of Information and Communications has issued a Code of Conduct on social networks and a handbook on preventing fake news and false information in cyberspace.

Organize communication in the press and on social networks at home and abroad about the Handbook in many forms such as: books, summary clips, infographics... with the aim of raising awareness of responsibility in cyberspace for Internet users in Vietnam and providing basic information and skills for agencies, organizations and individuals to have general and necessary knowledge to recognize, respond to and handle fake news and untrue news.

Implementing the Communication Plan to raise awareness of Internet users in Vietnam with a series of specific programs such as: "Tin" campaign conveying the message "Virtual space, real trust" - improving the ability to recognize and prevent fake news, untrue news; Anti Fake News contest for students, content creators, social network users; seminars, discussions on knowledge, skills, experience in preventing fake news...

At the conference, representatives of the Press Department, Information Security Department, and Telecommunications Department shared experiences to improve policy communication, ensure information security in the new situation as well as experience in handling fake news, managing mobile subscribers...

Along with that, delegates listened to the dissemination and understanding of the key tasks of the Information and Communications sector in the period of 2023 - 2025; development of digital economy - digital society in the new period and contents of interest to society and public opinion that need to be promoted; information security issues in the new situation; process of developing and standardizing information of mobile subscribers using video calls .
