Extremely cool fans of Lao University
The Lao University football team created a memorable journey at the 2025 International Youth Student Football Tournament - THACO Cup. After a difficult start and only being able to win a ticket to the semi-finals in the last round, the players from the land of a million elephants defeated the Malaysian University in a thrilling penalty shootout to reach the final match.
In addition to their outstanding efforts on the field, Lao University also defeated their strong opponents thanks to the "12th player", which was the strong fan base in the stands. Many Lao students currently studying in Ho Chi Minh City came to the field to cheer and inspire Lao University throughout the match with their tireless cheers.

It was the cheers of "Laos, keep it up" that helped Lao University overcome the physical battle, and then the courage to win on penalty kicks.
Among the Lao fans, Sana Maniphonh is a prominent name. The boy with a friendly, scholarly appearance was once a member of the Lao University football team. "I came to cheer for you. There are 5 people on the field who used to be my teammates," Sana Maniphonh confided.
Sana Maniphonh used to play professional football. In Laos, there are players who grew up from the cradle of school football to play for youth teams. Sana Maniphonh is proof, when the student of Lao University performed excellently as a midfielder, then was chosen to play for Laos U.19 in 2019.
Laos U19 team created a miracle when they held Australia to a 2-2 draw in the 2020 AFC U20 Championship qualifiers. After 3 matches, Laos U19 team had 7 points, ranked second in the group and won a ticket to the final round. However, the pandemic caused the tournament in Uzbekistan to be canceled, and Laos U19 team also missed the chance to continue.
"For us, that is still the biggest regret," Sana Maniphonh affirmed.
Sana Maniphonh has skillful feet, good tactical thinking and an endless passion for football. "I love football very much. Every time I go to the stadium to watch my team compete, I feel excited and want to play football again," the Laotian guy answered in extremely fluent Vietnamese. Sana Maniphonh has long considered Vietnam his second homeland. "I see many similarities between Laos and Vietnam," he affirmed.
Perhaps that is why Sana Maniphonh chose to live and study in Vietnam. He is currently studying at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine (HCMC).

On her personal TikTok page, Sana Maniphonh has 3 million likes and more than 300,000 followers. "Most of my followers are from Laos," Sana Maniphonh proudly said.

Besides his time as a football player, Sana Maniphonh wants to contribute to the king sport in another way: he works hard in community activities and is studying musculoskeletal medicine at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine (HCMC).
"I want to become a good doctor to treat musculoskeletal injuries for my teammates," Sana Maniphonh shared about her dream.
Sana Maniphonh also watches Vietnamese football very closely and admits to being extremely fond of Quang Hai. He also knows Xuan Truong, when the midfielder born in 1995 is also pursuing a career in sports medicine by opening the International Sports Rehabilitation Center - IRC, where many athletes have come for treatment.
Sana Maniphonh hopes that the final match of the 2025 International Youth Student Football Tournament - THACO Cup will take place between Lao University and Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism. For the U.19 Laos player, any winning team will bring him happiness.
