CBA - Connect to share, cooperate to succeed

At the recent CBA Annual Conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Hao, Chairman of CBA, shared: "Last year, due to the general difficulties of the global economic crisis, the business community also faced many challenges. Most businesses encountered difficulties in both input and output. However, the Can Tho City business community in general and member businesses in particular have made efforts to overcome difficulties, taking advantage of opportunities and advantages to maintain production and business activities, creating jobs for workers and contributing to the development of the city. The annual conference is an opportunity for us to report on our activities, listen to comments and suggestions for further development, better serve members, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Can Tho City. This is also an opportunity for members to meet, exchange and help each other overcome difficulties and obstacles to develop together in the future".

As of March 2025, CBA had 360 members. Over the past year, CBA continued to affirm its role as a bridge between businesses and the government, contributing to promoting local economic development. The Association coordinated with the Investment - Trade Promotion Center and Can Tho Exhibition Fair to organize the Can Tho - Thu Duc - Thanh Hoa Investment - Trade Promotion Conference 2024, attracting 350 delegates. In addition, CBA also organized trade connection programs between 5 centrally-run cities, welcomed the delegation of the Vietnam Industrial Real Estate Association, creating opportunities for multi-industry cooperation... Last year, CBA also had many community-oriented activities such as giving scholarships and gifts to disadvantaged students at 9 primary and secondary schools in Thoi Lai and Co Do districts on the occasion of the opening of the 2024-2025 school year; calling on businesses to support people affected by storm No. 3...

From the achieved results, in 2025, CBA will closely follow the motto "Connect to share, cooperate to succeed", CBA will promote communication of its activities to develop 40 new members; update information of member enterprises to complete the ecosystem website connecting with enterprises of provincial and municipal associations. At the same time, organize 5 Business Coffee sessions; member care programs, exchange, connect and visit enterprises at least 10 times, with 150 enterprises participating.

_❝ Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, emphasized: The city's leaders are always interested in understanding the thoughts and aspirations of businesses, thereby having appropriate policies and creating favorable conditions for businesses in production and business activities. Therefore, the city hopes that CBA will continuously promote its role in connecting and supporting the business community. To do that, in addition to promoting its internal strength, CBA needs to strengthen its connections, attract more new members as well as increase its support for businesses in production and business activities.

At the conference, experts and departments commented that Can Tho City's economic development in 2025 will continue to have both advantages and challenges. 2025 is of special importance, being the final year of implementing the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025, and the starting year for the new phase plan. Right from the beginning of 2025, the messages of the Party and State leaders have ignited the fire of enthusiasm for the determination to innovate, make drastic efforts to act, and create institutional support to be able to promote the position and strength of the whole country. Along with the difficulties and uncertainties that are predicted to continue, there will be challenges for the city in general and the business community in particular.

Thoroughly identifying the situation, CBA members have planned as well as proactive solutions to respond to market fluctuations. Mr. Ngo Van Chon, CEO of Tay Do Garment Joint Stock Company, said: "This year, the company aims to increase revenue by 15% compared to 2024. The export situation from the beginning of the year until now of Tay Do Garment is quite favorable. However, the economic situation and the world market have been unpredictable, especially the US market. Therefore, the company focuses on diversifying products and diversifying markets to avoid dependence on this market. In the production stage, the company prioritizes the application of new technologies and modern machinery to minimize costs. Along with that, it strengthens vocational training for workers to have a skilled workforce to produce quality products, meeting the increasingly high demands of consumers".

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hao, the policy of streamlining the state apparatus brings many opportunities and motivations to promote businesses to develop more strongly. However, businesses also face many difficulties and challenges, especially in implementing administrative procedures related to production and business activities. On the other hand, the policy of supporting land rent exemption and reduction for enterprises in industrial parks has not been considered by competent authorities for support, and many enterprises' investment incentives are at risk of being collected... "Recently, we have worked with a number of agencies such as tax, customs, banks... to find solutions and set up hotlines to support enterprises. We also hope that city leaders and departments will participate more in the Business Coffee programs organized by CBA. Thereby, enterprises have the opportunity to exchange and update new information about the government apparatus, policies and guidelines of the Party and State as well as promptly make recommendations and proposals on issues related to production and business activities directly to the city government. I believe that if the business community is supported and encouraged in a timely manner, it will contribute significantly to the city's double-digit growth target this year," said Mr. Hao.
