Efforts to promote and provide stable electricity to the city

Implementing the direction of the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) on ensuring electricity supply to serve the city's socio -economic development, Can Tho City Power Company has developed a power supply plan for each month and the whole year of 2025; at the same time, making efforts to well implement plans to ensure electricity supply during the peak months of the dry season (April, May, June and July 2025) as well as reserve power supply plans to respond to cases of imbalance in supply - demand of the national power system... Accumulated over the first 3 months of 2025, Can Tho City Power Company has maintained good electricity for 25 important events of the city, ensuring electricity supply requirements for more than 420,000 electricity customers in the city.

Mr. Huynh Huu Ky, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Electricity Company, said: In the first 3 months of 2025, the demand for electricity in all sectors and fields of the city increased, with the total commercial electricity output reaching more than 802.19 million kWh, an increase of over 35 million kWh compared to the same period in 2024. In the face of high electricity consumption, Can Tho City Electricity Company has directed its affiliated units to synchronously deploy many solutions in operating the power system, such as ensuring stable operation of 11 110/22kV stations; performing well the work of periodic maintenance and repair of the power grid, not implementing regulation and reduction, ensuring the requirement of sufficient electricity supply for socio-economic development and the lives of the city's people. Along with that, it is required that power units implement technical solutions to ensure the requirement of electricity supply during the peak months of the dry season in 2025.

Along with solutions to ensure power supply in the hot season of 2025, Can Tho City Electricity Company has been coordinating with the Department of Industry and Trade and organizations, unions, and schools in the city to promote propaganda activities "Schools join hands to save electricity"; combine propaganda on safe, economical and efficient use of electricity to customers, through channels such as the website, EVNSPC Customer Care App for electricity industry customers; at the same time, promote propaganda on electricity saving for each customer group. Accordingly, mobilize customers in the group of administrative agencies to develop plans and implement saving at least 5% of electricity consumption; mobilize customers in the public lighting group to save at least 30% of electricity consumption; mobilize customers in the commercial service group to save at least 50% of electricity consumption (for advertising lighting); mobilize customers in the industrial production group to save at least 2% on 1 product unit... At the same time, the district and county electricity departments mobilize large customers who are enterprises using electricity from 1 million kWh/year or more to sign an agreement to reduce the peak load capacity of the national power system, through the electricity demand management program (DSM) and the electricity load adjustment program (DR). Accordingly, the city has more than 249 business customers with large electricity consumption that are proposed to shift from 5-10% of peak capacity during peak hours in April, May, June and July 2025; there are more than 300 potential business customers participating in the DR program... Thereby, contributing to reducing the pressure on electricity supply for the electricity industry, limiting the situation of power outages and reductions affecting the production and business activities of enterprises and the lives of people.

In order for the power grid system to operate stably during the peak months of the dry season in 2025, in addition to performing well the technical management work, Can Tho City Electricity Company will increase the on-duty force, proactively prepare means, materials, and spare equipment to promptly handle incidents; perform well the repair work, invest in the construction of power projects according to the set schedule... At the same time, coordinate with the city's departments and branches to continue to effectively implement solutions to ensure power supply in 2025; promote propaganda on electricity saving and provide advice on solutions for economical and efficient use of electricity to electricity customers... With the efforts of the electricity sector and relevant branches of the city in propaganda work, the city's electricity saving programs have been and are being responded to by agencies, organizations, businesses and people.
