Entering the Quarter-finals of the 2024/25 National Cup, two representatives from the First Division, Phu Dong Ninh Binh and Dong Thap Clubs, are expected to create a surprise despite facing two representatives from the V.League, B.Binh Duong and Song Lam Nghe An.
Although Ninh Binh is playing away and in the First Division, its domestic force is not inferior to its opponent B.Binh Duong in the top of the V.League. Dong Thap once caused a "shock" when it eliminated candidate Hanoi FC in the round of 16 and its opponent Song Lam Nghe An is not too far apart in strength.

In fact, teams from higher leagues had to sweat to win. Binh Duong and Ninh Binh gave fans an extremely attractive, tense and dramatic second half. Coach Viet Thang and his team equalized 2-2 in the last minutes of the second half to enter the nerve-wracking penalty shootout with their opponents. The home team B.Binh Duong won the first ticket to the semi-finals after a 5-4 victory on penalties.

Similarly in Binh Duong, at Vinh Stadium, Song Lam Nghe An and Dong Thap Clubs also created an exciting and vibrant second half. The lotus team, after a waiting first half, decided to attack more in the second half and pushed the Nghe team to face many storms. However, the Nghe team stood firm and scored 2 consecutive goals in the 71st and 79th minutes. The representative from the West was not discouraged and scored a goal to shorten the score to 1-2 in the 81st minute.
Dong Thap's subsequent efforts were not enough to create the next "earthquake" and they had to stop at the Quarterfinals. The first match of the 2024/25 National Cup Semifinals was determined to be Song Lam Nghe An and Binh Duong.

The Cong Viettel Club also entered the semi-finals after a 2-0 victory over Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club with 2 goals from Khuat Van Khang (minute 64) and Tran Danh Trung (minute 90+7). The Cong is still on the way to conquering the highest goals in the domestic arena when in the V.League they are ranked 2nd, competing for the top spot and in the National Cup they have a ticket to the semi-finals.
The challenge for coach Duc Thang and his team in the semi-finals will be the Hanoi Police Club or Hai Phong. The remaining quarter-final match will take place on April 22.
