Can Tho launches Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign

On June 2, Can Tho City Youth Union organized the launching ceremony of the Can Tho Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024 to continue the practical values ​​for the community from previous campaigns.

This campaign also aims to promote the volunteer role of Can Tho youth in participating in socio-economic development, ensuring social security, building new rural areas, urban civilization, and contributing to ensuring national security and defense.

Parallel to the launch ceremony is the launching ceremony in response to World Environment Day (June 5) and Children's Day participating in environmental protection in 2024.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - said that in recent years, the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign has become a highlight for the city's youth, attracting a large number of union members and young people to participate in contributing their youth to the country's development, solving difficulties for localities and units.

The establishment and launch of 10 specialized teams of the campaign will contribute to promoting and making more effective social security activities throughout the city.

10 teams including the Green Summer Campaign Team; the Red Flamboyant Campaign Team; the Pink Vacation Team; the Exam Support Team; and the Young Volunteer Doctors Team.

Besides, there is the Green March Team; the Advanced and Model New Rural Construction Team;

Community digital transformation team; Youth volunteer team to protect the environment and Team for a beautiful school for children.

With the basic targets of the campaign such as building at least 12 new civilized streets (roads, alleys) with the criteria "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Civilized - Safe"; building at least 15 new charity houses, gratitude houses, red scarf houses; planting at least 95,000 new trees.

Support the implementation and realization of 380 ideas and initiatives of union members and youth; support digital capacity building for at least 40,000 youth and people.

Support 10 creative youth startup projects; provide career and employment counseling for at least 15,000 union members and youth; introduce jobs to at least 2,000 youth...

On this occasion, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) announced and awarded the title of National Green City in 2024 to Can Tho City.

The Organizing Committee of the 2024 Children's Environmental Protection Festival also awarded 100 scholarships and 20 bicycles to disadvantaged children who overcame difficulties to study well in Can Tho City.
