TBM1 machine named "Than toc" started from station S9 (Kim Ma) of the Nhon - Hanoi station metro line and drilled 647m of tunnel at a depth of 17.8m.
The Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) said that as of November 29, the pilot urban railway section Nhon - Hanoi station has completed 647m of tunnel construction (from Lieu Giai - Kim Ma intersection to the area near Nui Truc street, Ba Dinh district). In the photo is station S9 at the Kim Ma - Lieu Giai intersection. The report stated that station S10 is implementing the external structure; station S11 has completed pouring concrete for the bottom slab, and is implementing underground and surface moving work to serve the Jet Grouting (concreting the soil) work for the TBM entrance and exit; station S12 is constructing in parallel to restore the southern top slab structure, implementing excavation and construction work for the transfer slab. The underground section of the line has a total of 4 stations (from station S9 to S12). The overall progress of the project is 80.32%, of which the elevated section has been completed, the progress of package CP03 - tunnel and underground stations is 50.54%, construction activities are taking place at all construction sites. Pictured is a tunnel boring robot called "Speed", designed specifically for this project. The machine is manufactured by Herrenkecht (Germany), is over 100m long and weighs about 850 tons. The project started drilling with the TBM1 “Speed” from Station S9 - Kim Ma at a depth of 17.8m. After finishing drilling at Station S12, the TBMs will be dismantled at this station, and the auxiliary equipment system will be towed back and dismantled at Station S9 - Kim Ma. Currently, the road and garage are being excavated and constructed with the top slab in area I.2, the rough pavement layer is being constructed and the sidewalk of garage I.1 is being completed, and the road is being restored in area I.1, the underground slope area, and the excavation and construction of the box tunnel structure are being carried out. The vertical shaft area is currently being constructed with sheet piles to serve the construction of the structure. At the construction site, the contractor divided the work into two shifts, shift 1 from 7am to 7pm, shift 2 from 7pm to 7am the next morning. The total number of personnel for the construction work is more than 150 people. The main tasks of the engineers and workers here include operating the TBM, operating the tunnel lining robot arm, replacing the cutting head, etc. In the photo, Mr. Truong Tien Dung - one of many members of the contractor participating in the construction of both underground metro projects Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien and Nhon - Hanoi station. Camelo, a Colombian technical expert with many years of experience in underground tunnel construction, said he was very happy to be working on a major project in Hanoi. The main contractor for the CP03 package of the project is the Hyundai & Ghella Joint Venture (HGU). The subcontractor operating the tunnel boring by TBM is FECON Joint Stock Company. The tunnel lining of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line has a total of 3,488 rings, manufactured at the AMACCAO Ha Nam factory. Of these, 120 are heavy-duty steel rings, 30 are monitored rings, and 3,338 are standard steel rings. Double gauge railway 1,435mm: European standard rail/switch UIC 60 or equivalent. Regarding the TBM “Lightning Speed” tunnel boring work, as of November 29, the unit has constructed 647m of tunnel, installed 431 tunnel lining rings. The TBM machine has completed cutting head intervention before entering the geological change area on November 25. After drilling through the reinforced geological layer, on November 28, the TBM continued to intervene with the cutting head. It is expected that the robot will continue drilling on December 2. The project needs more time to assess the complex geology in Hanoi in detail. Above ground at the Lieu Giai - Kim Ma intersection, a tank of mud sucked from underground is being processed by an excavator to be transported for disposal. In addition to the experience accumulated and learned from the metro project No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), the Nhon - Hanoi station metro also has construction and technical support from the leading TBM construction unit from Italy and a team of experts from the International Underground Construction Association.
The Nhon - Hanoi station metro line from station S9 - Kim Ma has drilled 647m of tunnel.
The pilot urban railway line of Hanoi, Nhon - Hanoi station section runs on a dedicated track with a total main line length of 12.5km (8.5km elevated and about 4km underground) with the following route: starting point Nhon - along National Highway 32 - Cau Dien - Mai Dich - intersection with Ring Road 3 - Cau Giay (intersection with Ring Road 2) - Kim Ma - Cat Linh - Quoc Tu Giam - end point Hanoi station (on Tran Hung Dao street, in front of Hanoi station).
