In Nghi Quang commune (Nghi Loc), while many young people are choosing the trend of getting rich from exporting labor, those who "stay at home" choose to develop the family farm economy and raise aquatic animals. Many of the pioneers in this trend are the commune and hamlet cadres. Prominent among them is Mr. Pham Trung Sinh - Vice Chairman of the Commune Fatherland Front Committee.
Growing up in his hometown Nghi Quang, Pham Trung Sinh is over 50 years old this year but has spent nearly 30 years participating in mass organizations from the hamlet level to the local People's Committee. Being both a movement cadre and an agricultural producer with his family, Sinh is struggling to find a way to develop the economy. Realizing that the land near the river mouth in Bac Son 2 hamlet is favorable for raising fish and raising chickens and pigs, he decided to borrow capital to invest in building a livestock farm.

Initially, in 2019, he invested billions of dong to build a factory to raise nearly 400 pigs, mainly super lean pigs. Not only investing in barns and breeding pigs, he also focused on learning about animal husbandry, veterinary medicine and disease prevention; learning about the characteristics of livestock to adjust feeding regimens, in order to achieve high productivity and minimize damage. With hundreds of pigs sold continuously, he earned hundreds of millions of dong each year.
In 2022, facing warnings about African swine fever, Mr. Pham Trung Sinh decided to sell his pigs and switch to raising industrial chickens.
In early 2023, Mr. Pham Trung Sinh invested in raising 2,000 white-feathered chickens, both to sell for meat and for eggs. Mr. Pham Trung Sinh said that to develop the economy, especially in raising animals, in addition to capital, knowledge and diligence are also needed. With about 230 million VND invested in buying 800g - 1kg/chicken breeds from a chicken farm in the North, along with a cost of about 400 million VND to build a barn to raise about 2,000 - 4,000 chickens.
When the chickens are brought to the coop, they are raised according to the instructed process. In the first year of raising, with a scale of 2,000 chickens, the cost of feed is nearly 2 million VND/day, which is about 60 million VND/month. After 2 months of raising, the chickens start to produce eggs with an amount of 1,800 - 2,000 eggs/day. With an average selling price of 2,200 VND/egg, he earns about 3.8 - 4.2 million VND from chicken eggs every day, minus the cost of feed and care, he also earns tens of millions of VND/month.

Mr. Pham Trung Sinh said that thanks to the stable source of input, his family is assured of taking care of the chickens, ensuring product quality to maintain their reputation with customers. After about 20 months of exploiting chicken eggs, they will sell chicken meat. After Tet, at the peak of the festival and wedding season in February and March, Mr. Sinh sells a batch of chicken meat after the egg exploitation cycle of nearly 2,000 chickens. With a weight of 2-2.5 kg/chicken, the average selling price is 60,000 VND/kg of live weight, earning nearly 20 million VND in "net profit" after the egg exploitation cycle.
Mr. Chu Van Toan - Secretary of Bac Son 2 Party Cell said that in Bac Son 2 hamlet, in addition to Mr. Pham Trung Sinh's farm, there are 3 other farms investing in semi-industrial livestock models, mainly chickens and pigs. Mr. Pham Trung Sinh is not only an enthusiastic and energetic cadre of the Fatherland Front but also a typical example of livestock production as well as a pioneer in movements and contributions to support community activities in the commune. He is loved by the people for his resourcefulness and willingness to guide, help, and share his own experiences with other households who want to develop the economy and invest in livestock.
