On the afternoon of December 24, the Capital Women's Newspaper in collaboration with Acecook Vietnam organized an online exchange with the topic "Choosing food and nutritionally balanced meals for the family".
According to medical experts, health is always considered the most valuable asset of each person and nutrition plays a key role in maintaining and improving health. A balanced, scientific diet not only helps prevent disease but also provides energy for an active life.
In Vietnamese culture, family meals are not only a place to meet physical needs but also to unite members, foster spiritual values, form family traditions and maintain traditions.
However, the modern pace of life and the popularity of industrialized foods, processed foods and fast foods have led to an increase in the rate of overweight, obesity and diabetes among Vietnamese people, especially children. Worryingly, many families still maintain the misconception that chubby children are healthy, thereby unintentionally creating an over-nutritious diet for children.
Editor-in-Chief of the Capital Women's Newspaper Le Quynh Trang said that with the desire to provide women members and readers with useful knowledge about health care, food choices, and building a balanced diet, the Capital Women's Newspaper has coordinated with Acecook Vietnam to organize this exchange. This is also an opportunity for participants to listen to the sharing of experienced nutrition experts.
At the exchange, Dr. Chu Thi Tuyet - Head of the Department of Nutrition, Friendship Hospital, especially noted the importance of fiber in daily meals. Because fiber not only aids digestion but also helps control blood sugar and blood fat, especially useful for people with diabetes or cardiovascular disease. The expert also emphasized that balancing energy intake and expenditure is a decisive factor for sustainable health.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lam - former Deputy Director of the National Institute of Nutrition said that choosing clean, safe food and preparing balanced nutritional groups is a prerequisite to ensure health. Experts also suggest applying a nutritional pyramid suitable for each age group to optimally meet the body's needs.
Specifically, adults need 3-4 servings of ripe vegetables and fruits every day, combined with protein sources such as meat, fish, and tofu, while children can eat fried foods in moderation, and the elderly should prioritize boiled and steamed dishes to limit trans fats.
Not only providing in-depth knowledge, experts also enthusiastically answer practical questions from readers and women members about how to choose safe food; prevent nutrition-related diseases; proper vegetarian and dieting methods to ensure health...
