The first case was patient Le Van Nh. (43 years old), who was admitted to the hospital with severe chest pain and difficulty breathing. After being consulted remotely by Cam Pha Regional General Hospital with cardiologists from the Provincial General Hospital, Mr. Nh. was immediately transferred to another hospital. However, during the preparation for coronary angiography, the patient suddenly suffered ventricular fibrillation and cardiac arrest. The medical team quickly performed an electric shock to help the heart beat again, before placing a stent to reopen the blocked artery.
The second case is Mr. Bui Van D. (75 years old) who was transferred to the hospital from Quan Lan Island with chest pain and difficulty breathing. Upon admission, the patient suddenly had a seizure and cardiac arrest. Coronary angiography results showed complete occlusion of the anterior interventricular artery, acute myocardial infarction complicated by arrhythmia on the background of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Thanks to prompt intervention, Mr. D. overcame the critical condition.
The oldest case was Mr. Doan Van Ch. (81 years old, Cam Pha City). While being treated in the emergency room, the patient suddenly went into ventricular fibrillation and cardiac arrest. Through coronary angiography, the doctor determined that the anterior interventricular artery was completely blocked and the other branches were stenotic in more than 50%. Thanks to timely detection, electric shock and quick intervention, the patient escaped death.
According to Dr. Tran Quang Dinh, Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and Intervention (Provincial General Hospital), all three patients suffered cardiac arrest due to ventricular fibrillation within seconds. Thanks to close monitoring, we quickly performed electric shock, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and timely stent placement to reopen the completely blocked artery, helping the patients escape the critical condition and recover well.
Acute myocardial infarction is increasing and getting younger. Doctors recommend that when people experience symptoms such as severe chest pain, shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, they should immediately stop activities and call 115 for emergency help. In cases of cardiac arrest, chest compressions should be performed immediately before medical staff arrive.
