The conference took place on the afternoon of September 24, as an event within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue (FD) in 2024.
Chongqing's Ideal Business Destination
Speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan emphasized that the cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Chongqing in recent years has had many positive developments in many fields since establishing friendly cooperative relations in 2018.
In particular, trade and logistics are always important pillars in the cooperative relationship between the two sides.
Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan said that the new international trade corridor by road and sea, with the route connecting from Chongqing to Ho Chi Minh City, is not only a strategic trade project but also an important bridge between the two localities.
"This is an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation, develop trade, and create favorable conditions for businesses of both sides to expand their markets, especially in the context of globalization and increasingly complex international supply chains," he emphasized.
With its position as the largest economic center of Vietnam, Mr. Vo Van Hoan said that Ho Chi Minh City is committed to accompanying and creating all favorable conditions for trade and logistics cooperation between the two localities to develop more strongly.
"The city believes that with its modern infrastructure, strategic location and favorable investment environment, the city will be an ideal destination for Chongqing and international businesses to expand their business operations," said Mr. Hoan.
The cooperation in developing this international trade corridor is also an opportunity to share experiences, innovate and apply modern technology in the field of logistics and supply chain. This cooperation not only helps reduce transportation costs, improve logistics efficiency but also opens up many potentials for cooperation in other areas such as technology, finance and investment.
Laying the foundation for deeper cooperation
For his part, Chongqing Vice Mayor Zheng Xiangdong said that in recent years, Chongqing has been one of the four municipalities directly under the central government of China and a strategic economic center in Southwest China. Chongqing has built three main logistics models including rail and sea transportation, cross-border transportation, and international transportation.
The system directly connects 72 cities and 154 train stations in 18 provinces in China, and accesses 538 ports in 125 countries worldwide. This enables Ho Chi Minh City and Chongqing to cooperate more effectively in developing supply chains, enhancing competitiveness in the international market.
The cooperation promotion conference marked a new step forward in economic relations between Chongqing and Ho Chi Minh City, helping to reduce transportation costs, increase competitiveness, and expand opportunities for businesses.
Mr. Trinh Huong Dong acknowledged that Chongqing and Ho Chi Minh City are two friendly cities. Through cooperation and exchange, they can create mutual trust and lay the foundation for deeper cooperation.
He affirmed: “Through the cooperation of the new Chongqing - Ho Chi Minh City international road-sea trade corridor and promoting investment activities in the coming time, famous Vietnamese products such as rice, coffee, natural rubber and fruits can be transported through the road to Chongqing, distributed to inland areas of China and Europe.”
FD 2024 took place on September 23-24 to promote relations between Ho Chi Minh City and its sister cities around the world. The dialogue is an opportunity to promote the country and people of Vietnam to international friends. |
