The training course took place from March 27 to March 31 in Hanoi, for 27 referees (including 22 professional referees , assistant referees and 5 non-professional referees ). Notably, in addition to Mr. Vo Van Hung - Deputy General Director of VPF, there was also Mr. Farkhad Abdullaev. Mr. Farkhad is an experienced lecturer of the World Football Federation (FIFA), along with Mr. Dang Thanh Ha - Head of the VFF Referee Committee, who will be the main lecturers. This is an important training step to familiarize with VAR technology on the simulation system, from simple situations, short duration, gradually increasing the level of difficulty, to watching the entire match (90 minutes).
In recent times, VAR referee training courses, as well as the entire VAR operation process in Vietnam, have received active support from FIFA. With this support, VAR has been quickly put into operation and maximized its effectiveness in the national professional football tournament system.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Farkhad said that FIFA always aims to increase quality referees . Therefore, organizing referee training courses is necessary. According to the experience of a FIFA lecturer, Mr. Farkhad assessed that Vietnamese referees have the full ability and opportunity to develop in the region. To become a good and capable referee , referees need to constantly strive to study hard, continuously improve their knowledge and experience to be able to achieve success and their own goals.
In addition to training more VAR referees , course 4 will also train 5 more VAR system operators (RO). 10 referee supervisors will also attend the observation course to better understand how a match with VAR operates.
After 3 referee training courses have been implemented since 2023, Vietnam has 36 referees and assistant referees certified by FIFA to perform VAR and AVAR duties. Currently, VAR technology is applied in most V-League matches, some highly competitive matches, affecting the rankings in the first division, the National Cup and even in a few non-professional matches. Thereby, contributing to significantly improving the professional quality of matches, actively supporting referees to complete their tasks well, minimizing controversies, making matches more transparent and fair.

VPF Company is operating 4 VAR vehicles in 3 geographical regions (North, Central, South). Of which, 2 vehicles are mobilized from social sources, 2 vehicles are sponsored by FIFA for VFF. It is expected that in the coming time, VPF will seek additional funding sources to add more VAR vehicles, aiming to have more matches applying VAR technology. Training operational personnel with sufficient professional qualifications and technical handling skills is considered a top priority of VFF and VPF Company to be able to achieve the set goals. In addition to training VAR and AVAR referees , the VFF Referee Board will also be proactive in training a team of VAR referee instructors to meet FIFA's requirements.
