Previously, on June 14, Da Nang Police successfully discovered the SGK-192 project, eliminating a large-scale fake textbook production and trading ring in Da Nang City. The police identified and clarified that Le Duy Quang (42 years old) and Nguyen Van Anh (44 years old), both residing in An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District (Da Nang), were the two leading suspects.
Continuing to expand the investigation in Ho Chi Minh City, the task force discovered and arrested other suspects in the above mentioned textbook production and trading ring, including Nguyen Trung Luat (43 years old, residing in District 12), Pham Ngoc Quang (47 years old, residing in Go Vap District), and Pham Thach Kim Dien (39 years old, residing in Binh Tan District).
The police seized 1 million stamps, 600,000 fake finished and semi-finished books, worth about 12 billion VND, all printers, cutting machines, staplers, sewing machines, gluing machines, cars, zinc plates, printing paper... At the same time, the suspects involved were temporarily detained for further investigation and strict handling according to the law.
During the investigation, Vietnam Education Publishing House and some member units actively cooperated with the police in confirming fake books, counting and classifying books.
Recognizing the outstanding achievements of Da Nang Police, Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh came to congratulate and reward the city police.
On June 24, 2024, representatives of the leadership of Vietnam Education Publishing House and member units of Vietnam Education Publishing House came to award the Department of Police Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy, Smuggling and Environment (PC03) - Da Nang City Police for this achievement with a total award value of 200 million VND.
According to the Vietnam Education Publishing House, in 2024, in many provinces/cities such as Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Soc Trang, Ca Mau, Lam Dong, Quang Ngai, Vung Tau..., functional units have continuously discovered and temporarily detained textbooks with signs of counterfeiting products of the Vietnam Education Publishing House. Preparing for the new school year, textbooks are products that many parents and students look to buy at bookstores. This is also a favorable time for fake textbooks to mix in the market. The Vietnam Education Publishing House recommends that parents and students choose to buy books at stores in the Vietnam Education Publishing House system to avoid buying fake textbooks and pirated books that do not guarantee quality .
