According to voters in Bac Giang province, National Highway 37 in Bac Giang province is currently very small, narrow, and degraded, while the traffic volume, especially heavy trucks, is increasing, posing potential traffic safety risks.
From there, voters recommended that the Ministry of Transport soon pay attention to investing in upgrading and expanding National Highway 37 to meet the transportation and travel needs of people in Bac Giang province and other provinces and cities in the region.
The Ministry of Transport said it has not been able to allocate capital to invest in upgrading and expanding National Highway 37 through Bac Giang in the 2021-2025 period (illustrative photo).
According to the Ministry of Transport, according to the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, National Highway 37 has a total length of about 564 km, a level IV-III road, with 2 - 4 lanes. Currently, the section passing through Bac Giang province is about 61 km long, of which the section Km18 - Km46 is a level IV road, with 2 lanes.
"Due to resource difficulties, it is not possible to allocate capital to invest in the route in the 2021 - 2025 period.
The Ministry of Transport acknowledges the voters' recommendations. In the process of developing a medium-term public investment plan for the 2026-2030 period, based on the ability to balance resources and the principles of capital allocation according to regulations, the Ministry of Transport will study and report to the competent authority to invest in the section of National Highway 37 through Bac Giang province according to the planning scale," said the Ministry of Transport.
In the immediate future, the Ministry of Transport will continue to direct the Vietnam Road Administration to strengthen maintenance and repair work from road maintenance resources to ensure traffic safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic on the route.
