The Ministry of Transport has just issued a document responding to the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Nai province to invest in repairing road infrastructure in this province.
Previously, Dong Nai voters proposed investing in 4 intersections with National Highway 51 to reduce traffic congestion: Gate 11 intersection between Vo Nguyen Giap - Bui Van Hoa - National Highway 51; Km 23+900 (intersection of National Highway 51 with Road 25B); at Km 22+300 (intersection of National Highway 51 with Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway); at Km 0+000, National Highway 51 - Vung Tau crossroads intersection.
Dong Nai proposed to build an interchange at Vung Tau intersection to reduce traffic congestion on Highway 51.
Regarding investment in the grade-separated intersection between National Highway 51 and Vo Nguyen Giap Street (Gate 11) and between National Highway 51 and National Highway 1 (Vung Tau intersection), the Ministry of Transport said that research on investment in renovating the two intersections of Vung Tau intersection and Gate 11 on National Highway 51 is necessary.
The Ministry has requested the People's Committee of Dong Nai province to direct relevant units to complete the research content (including the investment plan in the form of BOT), report to the Prime Minister for consideration and assignment of Dong Nai province to prepare and implement investment in renovating 2 intersections according to legal regulations.
Regarding the investment in the different-level traffic system at Km 23+900 between National Highway 51 and Road 25B, the Ministry of Transport and the People's Committees of Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces are focusing on directing the implementation of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project to complete in 2026.
Once completed, the project will help reduce traffic volume and resolve congestion at intersections on Highway 51.
To ensure traffic safety at this intersection, the Ministry of Transport has assigned the Vietnam Road Administration to implement a project to handle traffic accident black spots with a budget of more than 4 billion VND.
The Vietnam Road Administration has issued an emergency construction order to overcome the consequences of natural disasters to ensure traffic safety, of which repairs have been basically completed. The Ministry of Transport will direct the Vietnam Road Administration and relevant agencies to continue monitoring the traffic situation at the above intersection to propose appropriate solutions.
Regarding the intersection at Km 22+300 between National Highway 51 and Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, the Ministry of Transport said that this intersection was invested in phase 1 of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway Project. The current status is a complete interconnected grade-separated intersection. Accordingly, the expressway crosses National Highway 51, connecting to National Highway 51 by 4 up and down branches with closed toll stations, and a self-adjusting roundabout is designed below the bridge.
According to the report of Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), in the pre-feasibility study report of the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway from 4 lanes to 10 lanes, VEC has accepted the opinion of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee and has studied the intersection with National Highway 51 in the intersection cluster with Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway combined with branch expansion in the intersection with National Highway 51.
"The Ministry of Transport is coordinating with the People's Committees of Dong Nai Province and Ho Chi Minh City to focus all resources to soon complete traffic projects connecting to Long Thanh International Airport in 2025 and 2026 such as Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 combined with Provincial Road 25C to reduce traffic pressure on National Highway 51, while solving congestion at intersections on this national highway," said the Ministry of Transport.
