The favorable weather has allowed boats to dock at Con Go fishing port, Cam Nhuong commune (Cam Xuyen - Ha Tinh) these days to catch many valuable seafood, bringing excitement to fishermen.
At nearly 4am, hundreds of boats arrived at Con Go fishing port (Cam Nhuong commune) in excitement because they had caught many valuable seafood. On the shore, groups of traders with flashlights waited for their batches of shrimp, fish...
The sea has been calm in recent days, so fishermen have taken advantage of going out to sea. On average, each trip brings in 4-10 million VND, providing an additional source of income at the end of the year.
Fisherman Tran Van Bang (far right, in Xuan Bac village, Cam Nhuong commune) said: "This time the weather is quite favorable, going out to sea is easy to catch valuable seafood such as: barracuda, mackerel, snakehead fish, shrimp... After 8 hours at sea, our boat caught 10 kg of barracuda, 4 kg of shrimp, more than 10 kg of mackerel and more than 200 kg of sea shrimp. Roughly calculating, after deducting expenses, my boat earned nearly 5 million VND this trip."
Seafood at the end of the year is both popular and expensive, so fishermen are all excited.
In the last days of the year, the buying and selling atmosphere at Con Go fishing port becomes more bustling and urgent than ever. According to traders, on the days before Tet, customers' demand for seafood increases, so people have to wake up early to collect goods and the quantity purchased on this occasion is also 3-4 times more than usual.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam (a trader in Cam Nhuong commune) said: "This time near Tet, on average I spend more than 10 million VND per day to buy seafood. To have a source of fresh goods to serve the market, I had to sign contracts with boats in advance. The strong increase in consumption makes not only us but all the fishermen here happy."
Fresh seafood batches reach shore in the excitement of fishermen and traders.
Everyone took the opportunity to choose for themselves the best seafood baskets.
Seafood is currently being purchased by traders at quite high prices, making fishermen happier. Specifically, barracuda is currently being purchased at 250,000 VND/kg; mackerel 240,000 VND/kg, mantis shrimp 100 - 120,000 VND/kg... These prices are 10 - 20,000 VND/kg higher than usual.
On this occasion, the women working as “fishers” in Cam Nhuong commune seem to be busier. Although the work is hard, in return they earn an income of 150,000 - 250,000 VND/person every morning, so everyone is willing to work hard.
Not only consumed within the province, seafood at Con Go fishing port is also purchased by a number of large seafood establishments to be shipped to provinces and cities across the country.
After purchasing, traders quickly bring seafood to local markets for consumption.
For small traders and fishermen, they always hope for favorable weather, to go out to sea to catch a lot of seafood and sell it at a good price, especially this time near Tet so that they can have a warm and happy Tet.
The whole commune currently has more than 200 fishing boats. In recent days, the weather has been quite favorable, so people are taking advantage of going offshore and earning a lot of profits. In particular, seafood is easy to sell at the end of the year and has a good price, so it has helped people have more income to cover the Tet holiday. To exploit effectively, we regularly remind people to reinforce and repair damaged parts (if any) to ensure safety during fishing.
