Previously, Binh Tan District Police discovered a group of people stealing car mirrors in the area, led by Tuan.

On January 17, the police invited Tuan and Ai (living with Tuan as husband and wife); Thong and Vy (living with Thong as husband and wife) to the headquarters for questioning. There, the subjects confessed to the theft.

Specifically, the subjects discussed and together stole the rearview mirrors of cars parked on the street. This group chose the time at night and when no one was watching to steal.

The group assigned tasks to each subject and traveled on two motorbikes through many routes. When they discovered a car parked on the street with no one watching, Tuan and Thong stole the rearview mirror.

Vy and Ai stood guard, started the car and waited. After stealing the mirror, Vy and Ai drove Thong and Tuan away from the scene. The stolen property was sold by Thong's group and the money was divided among the group.

Initially, the group confessed that from the beginning of 2024 until their arrest, the group committed at least 3 thefts in Binh Tan district.

After further investigation, the police checked the car mirror purchasing points of the thieves and invited Uyen to work. Uyen confessed that although she knew that the rearview mirrors Thong sold were stolen, she still bought them to resell for a profit. After buying them, Uyen sold them to Viet (owner of an auto repair shop in Binh Thanh district).

Searching the suspects' residences, the police seized more than 270 pairs of car rearview mirrors. According to the police, Tuan, Thong, Ai, and Vy all used drugs; Tuan and Thong all had criminal records; Vy had a criminal record for illegal drug use; Uyen had two previous convictions for "Receiving property obtained by others through criminal acts".

Ho Chi Minh City Police recommend that anyone who is a victim of the above group contact the police where the property loss occurred to report and assist in the investigation. The police also recommend that people raise their awareness, protect their property, and not let criminals take advantage of loopholes to rob or steal property.
