Faced with the rapid development of digital technology, the way readers, listeners and viewers access information is gradually shifting from passive to active. This requires press agencies to change their operational strategies and manage their activities according to a new model. In line with the trend, the Provincial Media Center is promoting digital transformation in professional activities; changing operational and management methods; applying technology to production processes... Thereby contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of operations, bringing information closer and faster to readers and audiences.
With the development of digital media, especially the explosion of social networks, the competitive pressure on traditional forms of journalism has increased. Keeping up with the trend, in recent years the Provincial Media Center has actively innovated to adapt and develop. The Center has built and developed a series of channels to keep up with the trend of the digital media era.
The electronic newspaper baoquangninh.vn currently has an average of 50,000 visits/day; the QuangNinhTV youtube channel has over 100,000 subscribers, attracting an average of over 1 million views per month; the QMG fanpage - Quang Ninh News 24/7 on Facebook has 300,000 followers; the QMG fanpage - Quang Ninh Entertainment, newly established in early 2023, has attracted 20,000 followers; the tiktok channel named QMGnews, QMGTintucQuangNinh has over 10,000 followers, attracting 1.5 million views per month; the QuangNinh Media app on the OTT platform has 15,000 installations on both Android and IOS operating systems...
2022 is the first year the Center has revenue from digital platforms (13,000 USD), opening up new development prospects in implementing the press economy.
The implementation of new programs on the platforms affirms the efforts of the Provincial Media Center in closing the daily production process, keeping pace with the development of multimedia and multi-platform journalism, constantly diversifying press and media content and products, expanding media connections in the region as well as expanding the way to reach users, especially young readers, audiences and listeners who prefer digital technology platforms.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan (Hong Ha ward, Ha Long city) shared: "I use many social networking applications such as Facebook, Zalo, TikTok, YouTube... I see that all applications have channels of the Provincial Media Center, helping me easily access information instead of having to read printed newspapers, access electronic newspapers or listen to radio, watch TV like before. QMG's social networking channels update information very quickly and accurately. Users can easily interact, express, contribute personal opinions and share with friends".
Ngo Thuy Ha (student of International School, Hanoi National University) expressed: "As a student living far from home, to know information about my hometown, in addition to reading Quang Ninh electronic newspaper, I often read news on the QMG fanpage - Quang Ninh News 24/7. The news and statuses on the page are quite good, constantly updated, closely following the events of the province; especially helping readers feel secure because the information is definitely official. I often bring news from this page to my personal Facebook to share with friends".
Along with the trend-setting media channels, the management, operation and production processes of the Provincial Media Center have been completely computerized. Advanced technology applications are used in all processes of producing press works. To achieve positive results in applying modern technology to press operations in the current digital transformation flow, each reporter of the Center has been affirming their mettle, being proactive and positive in approaching, learning and cultivating skills to improve the quality of press works.
Hoang Thu Quynh (reporter of the News Department, Provincial Media Center) shared: With a relatively synchronous and modern technology infrastructure, the post-production work of reporters and editors is done quite easily. Film editing systems, electronic newsrooms or shared data are all connected online, interconnected, very convenient for quickly completing multimedia press works, pushing them to digital infrastructures to serve the audience. The continuous development of science and technology has opened up opportunities for reporters to freely create multimedia press works, such as infographics, megastories, e-magazines, long-form... To create these works, we have invested heavily in content, deeply exploiting the issues. In addition, we proactively learn how to build multimedia works, using a variety of supporting software and websites. From there, we get closer to readers, conveying information in the most novel, accurate and attractive way.
In addition to developing digital content, promoting digital capacity, and recognizing the importance of digital data - the most essential foundation for digital transformation, the Center is actively and quickly implementing data digitization.
Since its official establishment and operation, the Center has immediately started digitizing a huge amount of data, images, and videos that have been manually stored for decades by Quang Ninh Newspaper and Quang Ninh Radio and Television Station. The stored data files all have information fields to serve the search and reuse of data when needed. Up to now, the digitized and stored images and videos have gradually created a complete, unified, and high-quality shared data warehouse to serve professional work.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thien, Deputy Director of the Provincial Media Center, said: In the past time, the Center has always been active and proactive in applying IT and digital technology to management activities and professional activities; strongly implementing digital transformation according to the general development trend. In the coming time, QMG will closely follow the set of indicators to evaluate and measure the maturity level of digital transformation of the press issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications; promote interaction with the public; build an information security system; apply new technology in program production on digital platforms and change the distribution system, aiming at the goal of developing the digital media economy.
Thanks to timely catching up with trends and actively and strongly transforming digitally, the Provincial Media Center has achieved many impressive achievements, effectively serving the information and propaganda tasks, becoming a typical model for many localities in the country to refer to and learn from.
