On the evening of January 2, according to the Staff Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Binh District Police issued an order to detain former player Le Sy Manh in an emergency to investigate his behavior of disturbing public order and handle him strictly according to the law.

Le Sy Manh hit the referee during a football match at an amateur tournament in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the video, Le Sy Manh was shown a yellow card by the referee after a tackle. After that, the former player turned away but pushed his hand into the referee's face. This resulted in him receiving another yellow card, which was equivalent to a red card and being sent off.

Before the referee could issue a red card, Sy Manh suddenly started punching and kicking continuously. Players from both teams and staff from the organizing committee had to rush in to stop him. On social media, many people expressed their indignation and condemned this violent act.
Le Sy Manh was once a famous striker of Vietnamese football, playing for many years in V.League for teams such as Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Quang Nam, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong... The striker born in 1984 also played for the Vietnamese national team in the period 2009-2010 and was named by coach Henrique Calisto to the list of participants in the AFF Cup 2010.
This person has been involved in many scandals as a player as well as a coach. The most noisy incident involving this former player was when he was on the coaching staff of Hai Phong club. The incident of chasing and beating goalkeeper Dang Van Lam at the club caused Le Sy Manh to lose his job.
The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department has directed to strictly handle acts of disregarding the law, behaving like hooligans, and disregarding the lives and health of others just to resolve petty conflicts arising during traffic, festivals, or sports competitions.
Based on current legal regulations, violations due to lack of restraint on the streets and in public places as occurred in the past, depending on the nature, level and consequences, violators must be prosecuted for criminal liability.
