At a gold shop on Cau Giay Street, the scene of jostling was taking place right outside. The parking lot was full, forcing many customers to find parking in neighboring lots or in the basement of the building. Inside, all the rows of waiting chairs were full. According to the store staff, the number of customers had started to increase sharply since the previous day, estimated at about 300 - 350 on February 5, and the situation was even more tense this morning.

Despite the continuous upward movement of gold prices, the checkout area is still crowded with people lining up. Ms. Hong Hanh (Cau Giay), one of the customers patiently waiting, shared her plan to buy 5 taels of plain round gold rings in the hope of luck and wealth accumulation. At the current price, this amount of gold is worth more than 45 million VND.
Ms. Hanh said: "After every Tet holiday, I use my children's lucky money to buy some gold bars as savings for them in the future. In addition, I think that buying gold on the right day of God of Wealth will bring luck and fortune to the family all year round, so every year I wait in line to buy it."

Similarly, Ms. Viet Phuong (Bac Tu Liem) was at the store since 9am. She said: "I came yesterday afternoon but it was too crowded to buy anything. This morning I came at 9am but by 12pm it was still not my turn. Every year, even though the price of gold is higher, I still keep the habit of buying 3 taels of gold to save for my children and grandchildren in the future."
Not only do people come to buy gold for luck, many people also come to gold shops to wait to sell on the day of high prices. "Last year, my wife and I bought 2 taels of gold bars to save for the long term, but seeing that the closer to the God of Wealth Day, the higher the price of gold, we decided to sell today. Compared to last year, we have made a profit of more than 50 million VND," said Mr. Quang (Hai Ba Trung).
In addition, most stores have announced that they are not selling gold bars and gold rings with purchase limits depending on the time. Therefore, many people like Mr. Hai (Dong Da district) have switched to gold pressed in blister packs with mascot symbols.
“Currently, SJC gold bars cannot be bought at gold shops and gold rings are sometimes on sale, so I decided to buy gold pressed in blister packs with the symbol of the snake mascot this year. The price of gold is the same as gold rings plus the processing fee, which is more than 200,000 VND/tael. Although I know it is more expensive, I can buy this amount of gold comfortably. However, buying this type of gold for investment often results in a loss due to processing costs,” said Mr. Hai.
