On December 26, Tuoi Tre newspaper and Cuu Long University - the first private university in the Mekong Delta region - signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, journalist Le The Chu - editor-in-chief of Tuoi Tre newspaper - said that for many years, Tuoi Tre newspaper has considered training an important activity of the newspaper, with many journalists participating in teaching at universities. Tuoi Tre newspaper has established a training center to participate more deeply in training in journalism and media.

The newspaper has signed agreements with five universities to provide training in a number of courses in the regular university training program at the editorial office. The signing of the cooperation agreement with Cuu Long University marks the first milestone in the newspaper's journalism and communication training beyond the boundaries of Ho Chi Minh City, training in the Mekong Delta.

"With this signing, Tuoi Tre newspaper will not only train students but also expand to many other subjects such as alumni, agencies, and businesses. In addition to media training, the two sides agreed to expand future cooperation such as admissions consulting, support to school, and media.

This is a comprehensive cooperation in many fields. Hopefully, the extensive cooperation in the future will contribute to the development of the two units," Mr. Chu added.

Hope Tuoi Tre supports training students in journalism and communication

Sharing at the cooperation signing ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Luong Minh Cu - Principal of Cuu Long University - said that Tuoi Tre newspaper has a long history, after half a century of formation and development, it has now become a large, prestigious newspaper with brand value domestically and internationally.

The signing of a comprehensive cooperation agreement between the newspaper and the school is a great honor for teachers and students of Cuu Long University.

According to Mr. Cu, after 25 years of establishment and development, Cuu Long University has become a prestigious and branded university and postgraduate training center in the Mekong Delta region in particular and in the Vietnamese education system in general. The school has trained over 33,000 graduates and currently has a student population of over 26,000.

The school currently has nearly 1,000 lecturers, including 50 professors, associate professors, 148 doctors, 200 doctors with level 2 and level 1 specialties, and over 600 masters. This shows that the school's staff is very strong. Currently, the school is expanding the scale of short-term training courses to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.

The school is currently training 32 majors with 80 narrow majors, 11 master's and specialist majors and 4 doctoral majors (finance and banking, business administration, food technology and Vietnamese literature), and will soon open some other majors.

Currently, the school has a health department training general practitioners, pharmacists, paraclinical and nursing majors. It is opening 3 new majors: traditional medicine doctor, maxillofacial doctor and rehabilitation technician.

Regarding facilities, the school is building a very strong infrastructure system on an area of ​​24.6 hectares, and is continuing to request Vinh Long province to support the allocation of an additional 30 hectares of land to build a hospital to serve students' internships and to provide medical examination and treatment for people in Vinh Long province and other localities.

Currently, the school has spacious and modern facilities, all classrooms have air conditioning and is continuing to build international dormitories and high-class housing for lecturers and international guests of the school.

Regarding training strategy, the school is strengthening its quality accreditation training strategy. To date, the school has accredited 16 training programs. On January 5, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, the school continued to defend three new quality accreditation programs.

"In May 2025, we will continue to accredit six training programs, bringing the total number of accredited training programs to about 75% of the school's total training programs, while the Education Law only requires about 30%.

Currently, the school has international cooperation with 200 foreign students studying and will soon expand to include students from India, Japan, Taiwan, Korea...

We would like to thank Tuoi Tre newspaper for supporting and helping Cuu Long University in the process of construction and development over the years. The school is what it is today thanks to the great contributions of the press and media agencies, the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Health, Vinh Long province and especially the contributions of 26,000 students and nearly 1,000 lecturers and staff who have helped the school develop step by step.

International students highly appreciate Cuu Long University

Cuu Long University is the first non-public university established in the Mekong Delta 25 years ago. In addition to training domestic students, the school now attracts many international students.

Genta Tsukida - currently studying Vietnamese at school, preparing to officially study graphic design. He said that when traveling in Vietnam, he was conquered by this place, felt like the country and people here. That is the reason he chose to study at university here on a self-funded basis. "Vietnamese is really difficult but I am trying to qualify for university" - Genta Tsukida said.

Also studying nursing on his own, Anouvong Soumata (Laos) received advice from his older sister. Soumata said that students in Laos will take the university entrance exam after graduating from high school. Soumata was advised by a fellow countryman who graduated from the medical laboratory technology department at Cuu Long University to study here.

Soumata is currently in his second year and speaks Vietnamese fluently. "The school's training program is very good. I plan to work in Vietnam after graduating, if I have the opportunity, because the salary here is higher than in Laos," Soumata said.

Meanwhile, some Cambodian and Laotian students are currently studying at the school on scholarships. Dalounvanh Lindar (Laos) is in his second year of studying pharmacy. Lindar’s mother is a doctor in Laos and she advised her son to study pharmacy so that he could work in a hospital or open a pharmacy upon graduation.

Lindar received a government scholarship and chose to study at Kowloon University.

"The learning experience and training quality of the school are very good. Vietnamese is difficult, my pronunciation is not very correct and sometimes I misspell the accents when writing. The food here is quite sweet, very different from Lao food. Therefore, I often go to the market and cook according to my taste. Pho and hu tieu dishes are a little similar to Lao food, the rest are very different" - Lindar shared.

Similarly, Voeun Monnyrachna (Cambodia) also received a scholarship and chose to study nursing. The reason she chose this major, she said, is because she can help many people, besides, the medical service in Cambodia is also developing strongly, so the career opportunities in this field after graduation are also very large.

"There are many nursing schools in Cambodia, but I was given a scholarship so I chose to study here. I am satisfied studying at the school" - Voeun Monnyrachna said.

Sharing about the school's development orientation, Associate Professor, Dr. Luong Minh Cu said that the school is striving to upgrade Cuu Long University to Cuu Long University by 2030 with five member schools including: University of Social Sciences and Humanities, School of Economics, School of Science and Technology, School of Health Sciences and School of International Training.

It is known that up to now, Cuu Long University has achieved many achievements in 25 years of formation and development: Top 100 most worth-studying universities in Vietnam, the school has the largest solar power plant in Vietnam, top 10 strong national brands, top 20 golden brands in 2024 and received the 3rd class Labor Medal of Vietnam and Laos.

Recently, the school won the award "Top 10 best universities in Vietnam in 2024".
