Conservation of My Lung Ga crow sticky rice variety

My Lung Commune, Yen Lap District is continuing to implement the Project to restore the Ga Crow specialty sticky rice variety, to ensure the variety has standard genetic resources, is not degraded to develop the local valuable genetic resources.

Preserving and conserving My Lung Ga crow sticky rice variety

Nếp Gà cẩu is a specialty sticky rice variety of Mỹ Lung commune, which has been preserved and cultivated by local people for many generations. The rice is sticky and fragrant when cooked, and is considered to be of higher quality than other types of sticky rice. Every year, the commune maintains stable cultivation of 100 hectares or more with this specialty rice variety; the yield reaches over 350 tons/year. To preserve, conserve and develop this specialty sticky rice variety Gà cẩu, Mỹ Lung commune is implementing a project to link production according to the value chain, developing products towards organic production on 24 hectares. This is a large source of income, helping people escape poverty and become rich; at the same time, actively contributing to the socio-economic development and new rural construction of the locality.

In addition to making sticky rice, Ga goo sticky rice is also processed into many high-quality products such as: Ga goo sticky rice wine, Ga goo sticky rice herbal banh chung... Currently, Ga goo sticky rice has achieved 4-star OCOP product certification; bringing the total number of OCOP products of My Lung commune to 5 products; the commune is completing the geographical indication for My Lung Ga goo sticky rice product.
