From a country that had to import food, we have become a world rice exporting powerhouse. Nearly 30 years after the embargo was lifted, Vietnamese goods have been exported to more than 200 countries; Vietnam has also become a destination for foreign direct investment flows globally.
From a purely agricultural economy emerging from the war, Vietnam has become a trusted partner of many major economies through signed multilateral and bilateral agreements. Vietnam's journey is written by the aspiration to reach out to the ocean of many businesses and entrepreneurs; and is fueled by the entrepreneurial spirit of young people across the country.
That aspiration and spirit have become even stronger as the country's economy has to face the Covid-19 pandemic, with the ongoing global crisis. Everywhere, the business community is striving to continue Vietnam's journey with a new mindset and a new goal: positioning Vietnamese goods, products and services with Vietnamese brands on the world map.
To spread the spirit of Vietnamese enterprises, create excitement for new ideas, new innovations, and contribute to the country's economic development, from June 4, Thanh Nien Newspaper will launch the column "Vietnam's Aspirations". The column will introduce to readers the arduous and emotional stories of building brands of Vietnamese enterprises; the fierce competition to maintain market share at home as well as create a foothold when exporting goods and services abroad. Especially the journeys carrying the ambition and aspiration to position Vietnam on the world map full of inspiration of Vietnamese entrepreneurs.
We - the Thanh Nien Newspaper staff - want to use these stories to contribute to building a favorable, competitive, and equal business environment and move towards the goal of making Vietnam a developed economy, a rich people, and a strong country.
