Journalism in building a team of cadres who dare to think and dare to do

On September 20, in Nha Trang City, the Vietnam Journalists Association of Khanh Hoa Province organized a press conference in Khanh Hoa Province with the theme "The role of the press in building a team of cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common good, meeting the requirements and tasks of Khanh Hoa Province in the new period".

Attending the workshop were Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan and Vice Chairman of Vietnam Journalists Association Tran Trong Dung.

Mr. Doan Minh Long, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalists Association, said: On September 22, 2021, the Politburo issued Conclusion No. 14-KL/TW on the policy of encouraging and protecting dynamic and creative cadres for the common good. This policy is likened to a breath of fresh air that positively impacts social psychology and creates confidence, aspiration, and will to strive to overcome difficulties and be creative for cadres and party members, promptly removing urgent bottlenecks.

Accordingly, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalists Association organized this workshop, which is both timely and has profound theoretical and practical significance for Party building, State management and press and media activities, both in practice and in theoretical research.

“The Organizing Committee of the conference received nearly 30 presentations on Party building and the political system. Especially the most practical professional experiences, as well as very useful suggestions for the conference,” said Mr. Doan Minh Long.

At the workshop, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan said that in order to concretize the resolutions of the Party Central Committee on personnel work, Khanh Hoa province has recently issued many documents; at the same time, it has implemented innovations in recruitment, planning, training, fostering and rotation of cadres...

The Chairman of Khanh Hoa Province also hopes that the Khanh Hoa Journalists Association will continue to organize seminars, training courses, and workshops for members and high-quality journalists on specialized topics.

Besides, Khanh Hoa press force needs to continue to promote its important role, accompanying the country in general and Khanh Hoa province in particular in building a team of cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common interest, meeting the requirements and tasks of Khanh Hoa province in the new period.

Sharing a discussion on the press and protecting dynamic, creative cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common good, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Economic and Urban Newspaper said that the press's participation in propagating the protection of cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common good is facing certain difficulties.

Specifically, many heads of agencies and units are afraid of conflict, do not provide information to the press; do not properly implement regulations on spokespeople, speaking regime and providing information to the press of State administrative agencies according to Decree No. 09/2017/ND-CP of the Government as well as the Press Law 2016...

Accordingly, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi said that there needs to be closer coordination and cooperation in providing information to the press from agencies and units, especially leaders and those assigned to speak. Ministries, branches and localities need to strengthen supervision of the implementation of the speaking regulations of their subordinate units, ensuring full and timely information for press agencies.

“In any circumstance, the role of the press and media is extremely important. Therefore, in the coming time, press and media agencies need to step up propaganda and replication of effective pilot models and solutions, innovation and creativity. In particular, timely propaganda and proposal of in-depth research results to institutionalize into legal regulations, creating a legal basis for replication of those models and solutions.

We must always identify innovation, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, daring to break through, being ready to face difficulties and challenges, always striving to act for the common good as the qualities required of cadres and party members, especially leaders and managers in the new era" - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi shared.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thi Thu Hang - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Professional Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the functional agencies of Khanh Hoa province need to provide the press with official information, statistics on personnel work, new policies, achievements and shortcomings, limitations, be ready to face the truth, absolutely not cover up information leading to unnecessary consequences. "The functional agencies of Khanh Hoa province can create conditions for reporters to access information, carry out press activities, and at the same time protect the rights of reporters when working. On the part of the press agency, please provide the functional agencies with feedback and opinions from the people, officials and civil servants on personnel work, issues that the press has discovered, and recommendations from readers, helping the functional agencies grasp public opinion and promptly adjust policies" - Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thi Thu Hang suggested.
