Frost covers Phja Oac and Mau Son peaks

Today (January 22), Chairman of Mau Son Commune People's Committee (Loc Binh District, Lang Son) Duong Trong Minh confirmed that frost appeared at Mau Son peak at around 5:00 p.m. At this time, frost began to cover trees and roads.

"It is expected that tonight when the temperature drops, the ice will thicken at the top of Mau Son," said Mr. Minh.

On the same day, ice appeared on Phja Oac mountain top (Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province) when the temperature dropped below 0 degrees Celsius.

Frost started to appear at 3pm. Trees were covered with thick layers of ice after light rain and cold winds.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently, the cold air has intensified and affected most of the northeastern provinces and some places in the northwestern region. The strong cold air has continuously intensified, causing the temperature in the north to drop sharply and last for a long time.

This severe cold spell will see temperatures in the entire North ranging from 7-10 degrees Celsius, in the mountainous areas of the North from 3-6 degrees Celsius, and in some high mountainous areas below 0 degrees Celsius. The meteorological agency said that the widespread severe cold spell in the North and North Central regions could last for many days to come.
