Many diseases cause tinnitus
Physician Hoang Duy Tan, former vice president of Dong Nai Oriental Medicine Association, said that tinnitus is the sound of cicadas chirping in the ear, which gets worse as the night goes on. The sound can have different intensities, from soft to shrill, and is always very uncomfortable, but only the person with tinnitus can hear it.
According to modern medicine, tinnitus occurs when the nerve endings of the inner ear are damaged and do not receive the correct signals or sounds, thus creating a ringing sound and often accompanied by hearing loss.
According to Oriental medicine, ear diseases are closely related to the kidneys (the kidneys open to the ears), so when treating, attention should be paid to the kidneys. According to research, there are 7 main causes of tinnitus as follows:
- Ear diseases: Mainly caused by ear diseases, for example, ear diseases including external tympanitis, earwax causing blockage, foreign objects outside the ear, acute and chronic otitis media, eardrum perforation, otosclerosis, vertigo syndrome caused by ear diseases, auditory nerve tinnitus... can all lead to tinnitus.
- Vascular disease: Vascular diseases can also cause tinnitus, such as jugular vein glomeruloma, ear vein dilation, vascular malformation, hemangioma..., venous tinnitus can mostly appear as noise, arterial tinnitus phenomenon is like the heartbeat.
- Neurological disorders: Some other diseases caused by autonomic nervous system disorders can also lead to tinnitus. For example, autonomic nervous system disorders, cerebral anemia, pre-stroke symptoms, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, anemia, diabetes, malnutrition.
- Side effects of drugs: Using many drugs that cause side effects on the ears such as Gentamicin and Steptômicin can also lead to tinnitus and hearing loss, moreover, tinnitus appears earlier than hearing loss.
- Stress: Fatigue, lack of sleep, and too much stress can also lead to tinnitus.
- Environment: Exposure to loud noises, shocks and noise over long periods of time can all lead to hearing loss and tinnitus.
People who work in loud noise environments need to take anti-noise measures, such as reducing noise from the source or wearing noise-canceling devices. In addition, do not use headphones for long periods of time and in very loud noise.
- Food and drinks: Coffee and alcohol often make tinnitus worse; smoking can reduce blood oxygen, and the micro-cells in the ear are also very sensitive to oxygen, so lack of oxygen will damage the micro-cells.
Location of acupressure points that can be used to help treat tinnitus
Stimulating acupuncture points to treat diseases
According to physician Hoang Duy Tan, the best method to treat tinnitus is to stimulate four acupoints including the Kidney, Tien Coc, Duong Coc and Quan Xung points.
The first three acupoints on the little finger are related to the Small Intestine Meridian, and the Guan Chong acupoint is related to the Triple Burner Meridian. The Triple Burner Meridian and the Small Intestine Meridian both operate to the inner ear, and the Triple Burner Meridian is related to the Pericardium Meridian, so the four acupoints introduced above are very effective in treating tinnitus.
Press once, rest for a moment, then press again, sometimes hard, sometimes soft. Doing so will reduce tinnitus, and some people may even be cured.
You can also use the Chi Yin point, press once, rest for a while then press again, sometimes hard, sometimes soft, doing so will reduce tinnitus, some people even recover.
On the feet, the Yinbai, Dadon, Zuqiaoyin, and Yongquan points, of which the Second Dadon point has the best effect, are the most effective. If it is just a simple disorder causing tinnitus, stimulating these points 3-4 times will cure it.
