US Vice President Kamala Harris on September 19 issued a warning to anyone who intends to break into her residence.
During the event in Michigan, which was broadcast live on September 19 (local time), American TV host and star Oprah Winfrey discussed hot issues with Ms. Harris. Ms. Winfrey mentioned that Vice President Harris owns a gun, which she has repeatedly confirmed, The Hill reported on September 20. “If someone breaks into my house, they will be shot,” Ms. Harris said, then added: “Maybe I shouldn’t say that. My staff will deal with that later.”

Gun violence was one of the main issues discussed. Harris called for a ban on assault weapons and universal background checks. “For too long, some people have made the mistake of saying you can either support the Second Amendment or you want to take away people’s guns. I support the Second Amendment and I want to ban assault weapons,” Harris said. The Second Amendment states that the federal government does not have the authority to infringe on people’s right to keep and bear arms. Gun ownership is one of the most divisive issues in the United States, especially after mass shootings. Harris said Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate in this year’s election, is also a gun owner. In addition to gun ownership, abortion was also discussed at the event on September 19. This is also an important issue that can affect voters’ psychology in this year’s US presidential election. Harris’s opponent in the election, former President Donald Trump, attended an event in Washington DC on September 19 focused on anti-Semitism in the US. Trump said that if he lost the election, Jews would suffer. He added that Jews owed him votes because of the former president’s pro-Israel stance.
