Three Laotian players stand out on the training ground before the match against Vietnam

The Lao team had a practice session at Go Dau Stadium (Binh Duong) on the evening of March 24 to prepare for the match with the Vietnamese team in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup taking place at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (March 25).

Compared to the 1-4 loss to Vietnam in the group stage of the 2024 ASEAN Cup, the Lao team has three notable changes: right-back Victor Ngovinassack, midfielder Roman Angot and striker Theo Klein. All three are French-Lao players currently playing in Europe and the US.

Right-back Victor Ngovinassack plays for Is-Selongey Football Club (France), midfielder Roman Angot plays for SV Linx Club (Germany) and striker Theo Klein plays for Omaha Mavericks Club (USA).

The presence of these three Lao players is expected to help the Lao team upgrade their squad, thereby achieving a good result against Vietnam. On the training ground on the evening of March 24, all three players stood out on the field because of their good physique as well as their modern football thinking.

In the friendly match against Sri Lanka on March 20, Victor Ngovinassack, Roman Angot and Theo Klein were all put on the field by coach Ha Hyeok Jun from the start. However, having only had two training sessions with the Laos team, all three did not play as well as expected.

All three have now trained more with their teammates to prepare for the match against Vietnam, so they cannot be underestimated. Coach Kim Sang Sik himself also highly appreciated these three Lao players and said that the Lao team is stronger than in the 2024 ASEAN Cup.

Relying on Lao overseas resources, the Lao team is also notable for its domestic players such as captain Bounphachan Bounkong - the striker who scored the only goal against the Vietnamese team at the 2024 ASEAN Cup.
