Britain has suggested directly training Kyiv's army in Ukraine while France has discussed plans to send troops to the country to maintain peace.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Brussels (Belgium) on December 18 about Mr. Macron's idea of deploying French troops in Ukraine to achieve peace and stability.

"We share a common vision: credible commitments are essential for a truly achievable peace," Zelensky said. The leader vowed to continue working on President Macron's initiative regarding the presence of forces in Ukraine that could contribute to stabilizing the path to peace.
The French President's office said increasing support for Ukraine was a priority and would continue to provide its partner with the means to defend itself and defeat Russia's military plans.

Mr. Macron will also maintain close dialogue with Ukraine and international partners to restore lasting and equitable peace.
The French president has repeatedly mentioned the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, but some other Western allies have objected.

In a related development, British Defense Secretary John Healey suggested that the country could deploy troops to Ukraine to train the host forces.
