Mobilizing the entire political system and society to prevent and combat drugs

Dien Bien TV - On the morning of April 17, the Central Party Secretariat held a conference to disseminate Conclusion No. 132, dated March 18, 2025 of the Politburo on "Continuing to implement Directive No. 36, dated August 16, 2019 of the Politburo on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of drug prevention, control and combat". The conference was held in a combination of in-person and online formats connecting to provincial, district and commune-level bridges in 63 provinces and cities across the country.

Attending the conference at the central bridge were comrade Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; comrade Le Thanh Long, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control.

After 5 years of implementing Directive No. 36 of the Politburo, the work of preventing and controlling drugs has changed positively. The fight against drug crimes has been vigorously deployed; many large, transnational drug crime rings and organizations have been dismantled... However, the drug crime situation is still very complicated, especially on the land, sea, air borders and in cyberspace... The Politburo requires Party committees, Party organizations, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations at all levels to continue to seriously and more drastically implement the contents of Directive No. 36.

Next, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long thoroughly grasped the basic content groups of Conclusion No. 132, with the core task being: To more clearly define the roles, tasks, and responsibilities, especially of the heads of Party committees, authorities, agencies, units; cadres, and party members in drug prevention and control work.
At the conference, the ministries, branches and localities shared many lessons learned; clarified difficulties, obstacles, causes and proposed many specific solutions to effectively implement drug prevention work in the coming time.

Concluding the conference, Politburo member and Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu acknowledged the important achievements and results achieved after 5 years of implementing Directive No. 36 of the Politburo. He requested ministries, branches and localities to continue to strengthen the leadership of the Party; improve the effectiveness and efficiency of State management; the core role of specialized forces and the People in drug prevention and control; step up propaganda work with appropriate content, forms, measures and means; implement drug prevention and control according to the motto "prevent supply, reduce demand and reduce the harm of drugs"; organize a general review of the number of drug addicts and illegal drug users, correctly assess the current situation to have strict management measures; at the same time, grasp the situation of drug-related crimes early, from afar, from the grassroots level; strengthen international cooperation to fight against drug crimes./.
