9 months of rapid demolition of 5,000 temporary and dilapidated houses

Towards the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), with the consent of the Standing Committee of the Central Party Secretariat, after reaching an agreement with relevant agencies and Dien Bien province, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee has developed Project No. 09/DA-MTTW-BTT dated April 25, 2023 on mobilizing support for building Great Solidarity houses for poor households in Dien Bien province.

Clearly, the campaign to support the construction of solidarity houses for poor households in Dien Bien province is a particularly meaningful program, not only a social security activity, but also a peak period to propagate and spread among all classes of people and overseas Vietnamese about the tradition of patriotism, about the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu "famous in five continents, shaking the earth", the pride of the entire Vietnamese nation. For the Vietnam Fatherland Front, this is a practical activity to welcome the Congress of the Front at all levels and the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024 - 2029.

Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Commission Truong Thi Mai and Party Central Committee Secretary, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien talked with families who received the great solidarity house.

Thanks to the determination in directing the implementation, along with the special attention and support of many senior leaders of the Party and State; the coordination and support of departments, ministries, branches, central agencies and local Party committees and authorities, up to now the results have not only achieved the target in terms of resources, but more importantly, through the program, it has spread the spirit of humanity, aroused national pride and self-esteem, calling on people across the country to look forward to the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.

The success of the program is that 5,000 solidarity houses have been handed over to poor households and disadvantaged families in Dien Bien province. And that joy is even more meaningful when Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee Truong Thi Mai and the delegation directly cut the ribbon to inaugurate and hand over the solidarity houses carrying the affection, trust and hope of the people of the whole country to the heroic land of Dien Bien.

As a family that received joy and honor in these historic days, Mr. Lo Van Minh, born in 1972, Kho Mu ethnic group, Co Puc village, Hua Thanh commune, Dien Bien district shared that he is a near-poor household of the Kho Mu ethnic group. For many years, the family lived in a dilapidated house, with many children and a wife who was often sick, the family's economy depended on farming, so building a new house for his family was only a dream.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien presented gifts to families receiving the handover of great solidarity houses in Hua Thanh commune.

“When we received the news that our family was supported by the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front to build a great solidarity house, we determined that in addition to the 50 million VND that Project 09 supported, along with the support of the local government, our family could contribute 70 million VND and thanks to the help of labor and materials from relatives, we have completed our dream house. With a stable place to live, I can also feel secure in working, raising my children and grandchildren, and will try to do business to escape near-poverty,” Mr. Lo Van Minh shared.

Together with Mr. Lo Van Minh's family, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee Truong Thi Mai and the working delegation presented the national flag, Uncle Ho's photo and many meaningful gifts to 7 households of the Kho Mu, Mong and Thai ethnic groups in Co Puc, Xa Nhu and Tau 2 villages of Hua Thanh commune who received warm and affectionate solidarity houses on the occasion of the recent Lunar New Year.

Sharing the joy of witnessing the happiness of the people when receiving support to build solidarity houses, Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai hopes that the ethnic people of Dien Bien province will firmly believe in the Party and continue to strive to have a more prosperous and happier life.

On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front, Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai also acknowledged the sense of responsibility and strong political determination of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Project at all levels of Dien Bien Province in organizing and directing the completion of 5,000 great solidarity houses ahead of schedule.

Regarding the results of the implementation of Project 09, Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province Lo Van Mung affirmed that with the participation of the entire political system from the central to local levels, the Project received high consensus among all classes of people. In just 9 months, the whole province has "reached the finish line" of the goal of completing 5,000 solidarity houses with the capital needed to mobilize 250 billion VND.

Mr. Lo Van Mung said that the completed project has helped 5,000 poor and near-poor households stabilize their lives. This is truly a large program with profound social and humanitarian significance, practically caring for the poor towards the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory. Along with support resources from the Central Government, during the implementation process, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in the area have mobilized armed forces, cadres, union members, association members and people to participate in supporting over 100,000 working days to help poor households dismantle old houses, transport materials, build new houses... equivalent to more than 28 billion VND.
