The 56th Ngoc Linh ginseng fair, within the framework of the 5th Ngoc Linh ginseng festival and the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam, attracted 60 booths to display products.
On August 1, the People's Committee of Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province opened the 56th Ngoc Linh ginseng and agricultural and medicinal products fair.
Participating in the market were 60 booths of businesses and Ca Dong and Xe Dang people in 7 communes growing Ngoc Linh ginseng in Nam Tra My district.
Ngoc Linh ginseng (Vietnamese ginseng) found in Ngoc Linh mountain (Nam Tra My district) is a particularly rare and valuable medicinal herb.
Currently, Ngoc Linh Ginseng is in the peak season for harvesting leaves, seeds, roots, etc. Therefore, the quantity of ginseng brought to the market by businesses and traders is quite large.
The organizers estimate that about 100kg of fresh ginseng will be offered for sale at the 56th Ngoc Linh ginseng market. To avoid the situation of mixing and trading Ngoc Linh ginseng of unknown origin, Nam Tra My district organizes a monthly ginseng market.
Ngoc Linh ginseng markets and local agricultural products and medicinal herbs, along with Ngoc Linh ginseng festivals, have become typical agricultural product trading addresses of Nam Tra My district.
To avoid the situation of fake ginseng mixed into the market, Ngoc Linh ginseng is always brought in and out of the market by a quality control team. If the inspection results determine that this is not Ngoc Linh ginseng, it will be handled according to regulations.
At this market, the price of Ngoc Linh ginseng leaves ranges from 10-12 million VND/kg, ginseng flowers from 15-17 million VND/kg, ginseng seeds from 80-100 million VND/1,000 seeds, fresh ginseng from 65 million VND to more than 220 million VND/kg depending on the type.
In addition to Ngoc Linh ginseng, this market also sells agricultural products and medicinal herbs typical of ethnic minorities in Nam Tra My and OCOP products from districts and cities in the province and the two provinces of Quang Ngai and Kon Tum.
The fair lasts until August 3.
The market is an opportunity for people who raise and grow ginseng and other medicinal herbs to meet and exchange planting and care techniques, thereby creating connections, expanding consumption and trading markets; promoting the traditional cultural values of the locality in combination with developing eco-tourism.
