In particular, the city continues to effectively implement the Project to popularize and improve English proficiency for high school and vocational students; the Program "Teaching and learning math, science and English integrating English and Vietnamese programs"; Expanding the high-quality school model "advanced, internationally integrated school" to contribute to equipping students with the necessary skills for international integration.

Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thi Le, on behalf of the city's leaders, set out 6 key tasks for the education and training sector in the 2024-2025 school year:

  1. Continue to implement the plan to build a "UNESCO Global Learning City in Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2024-2030" in 2024, fully implementing the commitment to build a learning city. Continue to implement the Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space to promote learning and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style to every cadre, teacher, employee and student. Effectively implement the construction of a "Happy School" so that every teacher and every student can truly feel the joy and happiness when going to class and school.
  2. Effectively implement the plan to implement the "Ho Chi Minh City Education Development Strategy from now to 2030, with a vision to 2045", building Ho Chi Minh City into a center for training high-quality human resources for the country and the Asian region.
  3. Continue to implement according to the roadmap, ensuring the completion of the city's breakthrough programs and projects on education; Continue to effectively implement the Project on universalizing and improving English proficiency for students; The program "Teaching and learning math, science and English integrating English and Vietnamese programs"; Expand the teaching of a variety of foreign languages ​​depending on the needs of students and the conditions of facilities as well as the teaching staff; Equip students with the necessary skills to integrate internationally, become citizens to meet the development needs of Ho Chi Minh City.
  4. Strengthening education quality assessment activities and building schools that meet national standards. The 2024-2025 school year is the first year the country organizes the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 General Education Program. The city's education sector needs to prepare a plan to guide students in studying and organizing the exam to ensure safety, quality, and suitability to the city's situation; Organizing well the excellent student exams, scientific research and other exams of the city to create a playground for students to practice, promote their thinking, capacity, talent and creativity; Strengthening digital transformation in primary school admissions.
  5. Implement teacher training in line with demand to ensure adequate structure, quantity and quality to meet the requirements of educational innovation; research and develop projects to develop the team of teachers and managers of preschool and general education institutions in the period of 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045. Organize recruitment to ensure quantity and quality, prioritize recruiting preschool and primary school teachers who are lacking; Arrange and regulate preschool and general school teachers among local educational institutions to ensure reasonableness, overcome the situation of local teacher surplus and shortage. Research and advise on developing policies to attract and create sources of teacher recruitment and support, creating conditions for teachers to work with peace of mind.
  6. Focus on implementing emulation projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, including: Smart Education Program; Project to build Ho Chi Minh City - Center for training high-quality human resources of the country and the region; Project to build 4,500 classrooms.
