Towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on April 1, the delegation of former cadres and war correspondents of the Liberation News Agency (now Vietnam News Agency) organized a program to return to the source and an incense offering ceremony to pay tribute to the Heroes and Martyrs at the Liberation News Agency Relic Site: Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park (Tan Binh Commune, Tan Bien District, Tay Ninh Province).

The memorial stele of the martyrs of the Liberation News Agency is a place to mark profound memories during the 15 years (from October 12, 1960 to April 30, 1975) of stationing, fighting, and carrying out political and information and propaganda tasks on the Southern battlefield. Many cadres, reporters, editors, and technicians of the Liberation News Agency devoted themselves, fought, and sacrificed on this battlefield, for the cause of national liberation and national reunification.

In a solemn, emotional, and proud atmosphere, the Delegation held an incense offering ceremony and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the Heroes and Martyrs - the nation's outstanding sons who did not spare their blood and bones, devoted their youth, bravely fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the people.

Journalist Nguyen Sy Thuy (75 years old, former reporter of the GP10 course of the Liberation News Agency) shared that after the end of the war and the reunification of the country, every 5 to 10 years, the cadres who were former war reporters of the Liberation News Agency organized to return to the old battlefield, recalling profound memories of their activities and fighting during the resistance war at the Liberation News Agency.

This trip back to the source has special significance, coming at a time when the whole country is preparing for an important historical milestone, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

Generations of cadres, reporters, editors and technicians of the Liberation News Agency are always proud to have dedicated and sacrificed their blood and bones to contribute to the cause of national liberation.

According to Journalist Nguyen Sy Thuy, during the resistance war against American imperialism, the Liberation News Agency was always a pioneer in information and propaganda work; becoming the main agency in the revolutionary press in the South. Not only holding guns to protect the base and the shelter, all reporters and technicians of the Liberation News Agency were present at the fiercest fighting places like soldiers, ready to sacrifice like soldiers.

The Liberation News Agency had about 265 martyrs who sacrificed their lives while performing information duties or directly fighting. The GP10 reporter class also had 3 martyrs who fought heroically and sacrificed their lives on the battlefield.

Journalist Bui Thanh Liem (77 years old, former war correspondent of the Liberation News Agency) said that the time living and working at the Liberation News Agency left many profound memories. Despite the difficulties and hardships, when fighting and having to perform information duties at the same time, the journalists-soldiers of the Liberation News Agency did not hesitate to sacrifice, promptly reflecting "hot" information from the battlefield, keeping the information flow of the Liberation News Agency flowing, despite the continuous rain of bombs and bullets from the enemy.

During this trip back to the source, everyone was very happy with the transformation of Tay Ninh province, which used to be the central resistance base of the Southern revolution, and proud of the country's achievements in socio-economic development, national defense and security after 50 years of liberation.

Journalist Bui Thanh Liem hopes that the Liberation News Agency Memorial will always be a "red address" for the young generation and the staff and reporters of Vietnam News Agency to continue to inherit and promote the achievements of previous generations, continue to study and work to build the homeland to become increasingly strong and prosperous.

The Liberation News Agency Memorial Stele was built in 2000 by the Southern Vietnam News Agency (now the Southern Vietnam News Agency Information Center) in the historic forest of Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park.

On the Memorial Stele, 16 golden words were engraved, presented by the Central Office of Southern Vietnam to the Liberation News Agency at that time: "Diligence, courage, self-reliance, overcoming difficulties, completing tasks"./.
